With filming for the fourth series of Torchwood due to commence in LA next week, TV Line have reported two casting updates for the 10-part story.

All My Children actress Alexa Havins (left) will allegedly take on the role of CIA agent Esther Katusi, who has previously been described as a character who is ’determined to better herself’, while star of Neighbours, Dichen Lachman, is rumoured to be playing another CIA agent, although further details about her are unknown.

In addition, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Kelly Manners, who has previously worked on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, has joined The New World as a producer, while Bharat Nallur has signed up as a director. Other crew updates include Gregory Melton (Production Designer), Shawna Trpcic (Costume Designer), and Todd McIntosh (Make Up). The article also suggests that the series will air from July.

Finally, Kai Owen, who will be back as Gwen’s husband Rhys, has expressed his excitement for the new series on his Twitter! Earlier this week he posted: “In 7 days time I am off to Los Angeles, USA to start work on Torchwood – The New World”.
