Series 6 US premiere date, new launch poster revealed!
The US premiere date for Series 6 of Doctor Who has been exclusively confirmed by Entertainment Weekly.
The first episode of the brand new series, part one of the anticipated US two-parter, will air on BBC America on Saturday 23rd April at 9pm ET!
While UK transmission details are still be to confirmed, we can assume that it will start here on the same day, backed up by this tweet posted by the DWM team recently.
The report also unveils this great poster, which is to be used in the US over the coming weeks to promote its premiere. The banner sports the appropriate tagline: “Trust your Doctor” – and we most certainly do! Let us know what you think in the comments!
The Doctor and his companions Amy and Rory find themselves on a secret summons that takes them on an adventure from the desert in Utah to the Oval Office in 1969.
So, the countdown officially begins for US fans, and hopefully it won’t be long until we have concrete details in the UK too! What do you think of the news?

Personally I think it’s disgusting that the UK one hasn’t been announced yet. It’s a god damned British show, we should have it first and then the US in terms of announcements.
@Mike
I completely agree.
Surely the UK date should be out first..!
The next Doctor will probably be American at this rate…..
WOOHOO – cant wait!!
It makes sense that they announced the US date first because the series is starting with the Doctor in the U.S.
As a Brit living in America I am delighted! Roll on April 23rd! :O)
@Mike
Come on! You have the experience and all those cool things, surely you can let us have this one thing?
LOL I actually think they are releasing the new series on the same day for both the US an UK this year. at different times obviously. Too bad I don’t have BBC America. Gonna have to wait for ppl to spill the show on those torrent sites
@Peter
Sorry but no, lol
Fair enough we have all of that, but it is rightly so a british show. You guys had your chance back with the TV movie and it went tits up. I’m not looking to start a war here, just voicing my concerns.
It premieres on the 23rd. My birthday is on the 25th. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
Great for you guys. But what about us Doc Who fans here in Aussie?! Come on!
BRING IT!! XD
I hope it’s the same date in the UK, though we’ll have to avoid the internet for eight hours so as to avoid incoming spoilers from the US.
@TSG
If it’s the same date, we’ll get to see it before the US who’ll see it a few hours later
Also, if the rumours are true, then we’d technically get to see Episode Two a while before the US as we’d see it on the 24th.
I am completely annoyed by this! Dr who is a british show and we should be getting the news first then the US.
But at least UK fans have titles from some of the episodes.
Didn’t BBC America run Series 5 two weeks behind the UK? That would place the UK premiere on April 9th. Someone somewhere predicted that date. Hmmmm. Who was it?
Can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait!
It’s annoying that the US date was announced first, but Americans like knowing the start dates of shows wayy in advance while the BBC usually holds off until closer to the date.
At any rate we know it’ll air in the UK first, but whether that’s by a few hours or weeks remains to be seen…
The UK deserves the first reveal. IT IS, AND ALWAYS WILL BE A BRITISH SHOW! & That advert? How American does it want to be?! I expected better of Moff if i’m 100% honest.
Don’t even get me started on the tag line. Do. Not. Like.
i am somewhat concerned or am i confused.DW is a classic British programme and that is possibly the attraction that brings a lot of the US viewers as it is something different to a lot of US shows that are very traditionally American and im not being rude but American tv is very dummed down and if its not an instant hit is never given a chance to grow.I hope it is not going to change the show and that it is just a way of attracting viewers across the pond and that DW works its charms on the US Viewers.i am pleased that DW is doing so well in the USA as having lived there myself for 3 years you could only get any British tv on PBS ON A SUNDAY which was a little classic DW in the morning and Eastenders in the evening.DW FILM Didnt work REmember
