Steven Moffat has described the first episode of the new series of Doctor Who as a “belter”.

Writing on his Twitter earlier today, the showrunner revealed: “In Cardiff and just saw the (very nearly) complete ep 1 of Who. Could be biased but I think it’s a belter”. Episodes 1 and 2 of Series 6 will form the anticipated US two-parter, in which the Doctor, Amy and Rory find themselves on a secret summons that takes them from the desert in Utah to the Oval Office in 1969.

Yesterday it was confirmed that Series 6 will premiere in the US on BBC America on Saturday 23rd April, and it’s expected to start on BBC One in the UK on the same day.
