The Almost People has “ending to end all endings”
Arthur Darvill has promised that Saturday’s episode, The Almost People, has a cliffhanger so big it’s “the ending to end all endings”.
Speaking to What’s on TV, the actor revealed that there are “things that up the stakes about how much danger” the Doctor, Amy and Rory are in as we head towards the spring finale, A Good Man Goes to War. “There’s the ending to end all endings in this episode,” he said. “I’m not saying exactly what it is, but it’s a biggie!”
He added: “Saying that, there’s a terrific cliffhanger in episode seven. You won’t want to miss that either.” Matt Smith has previously described Episode 7’s climax as “a killer”.
The official site has described The Almost People’s conclusion as “seismic”, adding that it’s “a moment of Doctor Who history that changes everything for the Doctor”…
Is it just us, or is this talk of cliffhangers both exciting AND terrifying at the same time…?
A cliffhanger at the end of “The Almost People”? A massive twist leading into “A Good Man Goes To War”?
My god. I’m going to have to swear off the Internet almost entirely for the next two weeks to avoid spoilers. I once more curse BBC America’s decision not to run “The Almost People” during the Memorial Day weekend. (I mean come on! Memorial Day isn’t until Monday. You can still run Dr Who on Saturday, can’t you? ARGGGH!!!!)
I totally agree with you calli! it isn’t a crime! I will make time to watch it! after I get home from Comic con! who do you all think the cliff hanger is gonna be about? I think it is gonna have to do with the doctor…. maybe we will finally know who that lady with the eye patch is… and find out if amy is pregnant! ahhh why must we be kept waiting?!
@Calli Arcale @Little Miss Annie
Technically, you’d have to avoid the BBC Press Office also because the cliffhanger for Episode Six starts the synopsis of Episode Seven.
But they promised that WWI would be the “War to end all wars” and that didn’t work…
So “ending to end all endings” hmm I’m not sure what I take from that. They seem to want us to overthink it. AND IT’S WORKING!!! God I’m excited
i just cant wait to see what this ending to end all endings is about and like
@TE
I’ve already read the synopsis for episode 7 and I don’t think the event that kicks it off is that spectacular. Arthur talks about “great danger” so I think, and hope, that there is more to it.
Also, while I absolutely adore cliffhangers and painful waits between episodes, I hope Steven Moffat doesnt pile up the cliffhangers one after another just for the sake of doing cliffhangers. I mean, the ones at the end of The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon were already exhausting… now what ?
I have to admit, both this week’s episode and the half-season finale do sound like they’re gonna be pretty amazing. If they are, it bodes well for the second half of the series, leading on from them two episodes.
Um, you could always watch the episode online instead of waiting…
@TE
Being in America makes it easier to avoid the BBC Press Office. I generally have to go out of my way to read anything Doctor Who related over here. I can probably safely watch BBC America, though, as they’ll be running any Doctor Who related press a week late.
But god, it’s gonna hurt not being able to come over here right after! AAAAAAAAARRRGH!
@Someonewhocantsee3D
As far as I know, the *legit* online versions will not be available in the US until BBC America lets them post. And honestly, as excited as I was for the Beeb to let Yanks buy outside-the-UK iPlayer subscriptions, I was less excited when I saw the price tag. It’s enough that I’m willing to wait a week.
@Bad Wolf
I’d love to say there is, but… Although, it is quite a massive event even though it’s just you-know-who getting you-know-what.
@TE
How do you know it’s that? I know that’s what it says on the synopsis, but have you seen the end of The Almost People? On some of your comments you act like you know more than us, when it’s just info that a large majority of fans online have already read.
Though, you may have seen the episode in which case I apologise
@Peter
It’s not that I’ve seen the episode or that I believe I know more than anyone else (which is the problem with the internet giving everyone the wrong voice). A majority of the posts I make are opinions, like this one, although I can see how they don’t sound like opinions to others.
I hate waiting! ahhh!!! I have amazon prime.. so maybe they will post the episode at 4 in the am here in us so that I can see it! this is gonna be awesome! I can’t wait to see who river is! and hopefully find out who the eye patch lady is… be we shall see!
@Calli Arcale
We can get outside-the-UK subscriptions? How? I went on the iPlayer website and didn’t see anything about that
@TE
Maybe you’re right, but I still don’t get why you-know-you getting you-know-what should be described as “the ending to end all endings !
I am confused?
@Bad Wolf
I suppose that’s because of what it causes – the good man going to war for the sake of P.
@e.p
I have no idea how you get a subscription; I read an article (on Dr Who News Page, probably) saying how much it would cost and immediately said “naaaaah”. BBC being what it is (a government agency), it could well have changed its mind since then.
My brother thinks that you-know-who is you-know-whated by River, because that would be quite a big cliffhanget.
