Mark Gatiss appeared on The Danny Baker Show on BBC Radio 5 live this morning, and during his interview he briefly discussed his forthcoming Doctor Who episode.

His episode, which was originally going to be aired as part of the spring series, will now be shown in the second half, and was previously titled ‘What Are Little Boys Made Of?’. “It was shot last year, but it’s in the second half of the series, so it’s Episode 9,” he said today. “It’s called ‘Night Terrors’. What do you think of the title?

Wow. To be honest, after The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon aired, the title was inevitably going to be Night Terrors just because of the reference to the line, “the Night Terrors with a hotline to the White House”.

Love that title, it always reminds me of the guy from Malcolm in the Middle having night terrors! …Probably not why Mark chose it though!

Lol, I like it. I made a short film by that name a few years ago! :)

I do like that as a title. Night terrors are the one step beyond nightmares – great title for a Doctor Who ep!

I like that title better; it’s much scarier. Anyone who’s ever experienced an actual night terror (not just a bad dream) can relate. I’ve had them a couple of times as an adult, but they’re far more common in children. My youngest daughter gets them frequently. She’ll wake up screaming, howling, and totally inconsolable. She also seems unaware of her surroundings, as if she’s not really properly awake, and there is absolutely nothing that can be done to calm her. Within ten minutes to half an hour, she abruptly stops and is immediately deeply asleep. In the morning, she has no memory of it.

Sometimes, night terrors can be accompanied by sleep paralysis and vivid hallucinations. I’ve had that kind. Most disconcerting.

Might be a little off topic, but Karen Gillan look FINE in that thumbnail picture.
