Caroline Skinner appointed as new exec producer
Following the recent news that both Piers Wenger and Beth Willis will be leaving Doctor Who, the BBC has confirmed today that Caroline Skinner is to become a new executive producer of the series.
Skinner has previously served as producer on Five Days and The Fades, and was also script editor for The Ruby in the Smoke and The Shadow in the North, both of which starred Billie Piper. She joins the Doctor Who team in time to begin work on this year’s Christmas special.
“The exec joining me on Doctor Who is Caroline Skinner,” Steven Moffat has said. “Somewhere between me laughing in a basement and choosing planets to invade, and Marcus Wilson raising armies, there has to be a Prime Minister actually running the whole thing. It takes a particular kind of person to work on this show – you have to be prepared to work every day, and above all, understand that Doctor Who is impossible to make and then make it anyway. I could see all that in Caroline.”
About the Christmas special, Steven has teased lots of fire and aliens, adding: “I think I spent the entire budget on the first page”. We’d like to wish Caroline the best of luck!
I hope Caroline Skinner preforms better than the last 2 waste of space! Good luck, I will be watching!

In what way were they a “waste of space”?! Piers and Beth more than helped to create Series Five and Six while Steven has focused on the story and the direction of the show. They have had a significant input in Steven’s era so-far. The only difference is that they don’t shove their faces in front of the camera every couple of minutes to say they’ve done something.
