That’s right, it’s that time of year again! The shortlist for the 2012 National Television Awards has been revealed, so it’s time, once again, for Whovians to unite!

Doctor Who has been nominated for Most Popular Drama alongside Downton Abbey, Merlin and Waterloo Road, while it’s the Doctor vs. Jack for Male Drama Performance, as Matt Smith goes head to head with John Barrowman, as well as Martin Clunes and David Threlfall. Similarly, Karen Gillan and Eve Myles are up for Female Drama Peformance

The Doctor Who and Torchwood actresses face competition from other nominees, Jaye Jacobs and Suranne Jones. Suranne appeared as Idris in The Doctor’s Wife last year.

Voting is NOW OPEN, and the results will be revealed live on ITV1 on 25th January…

Let’s hope Doctor Who doesn’t lose out to Waterloo Road like last time…

Even though Miracle Day was average, I loved Jack and Gwen so it’s incredibly hard to choose between Matt and John and Karen and Eve…

To be fair though, if Waterloo Road is winning over dr who (a really established programme) than there must be something wrong. We’ll have to see what happens in this years awards

What about Downton Abbey, though? I reckon that’s going to be fearsome competition this year.

Male drama performance will definitely go to Matt. JB was pretty decent in MD, Martin Clunes not sure about but it definitely won’t go to david threlfall.
Female peformance will go to Suranne Jones or Eve Myles. I love Karen she put in brilliant performances but sad to say she won’t win it hope she does though!
Most popular drama will be very, very tough. I don’t watch Downton Abbey but has great reviews same as Merlin. I watch WR and love that series as well as DW so unsure who will get that award.

Sorry, I have to say Downtown Abby because I didn’t see Waterloo and I did see Doctor Who.

That being said, Gwen Cooper is my favorite whether she’s holding a gun or a baby…I just love her!

The way Doctor Who is at the moment, I have to admit to voting with no loyalty this year, I chose what I wanted

I need to borrow the Tardis so I can skip ahead to see who the winners are!

I hope no one thinks me bad for saying this but I don’t feel (hand on heart) that DW will win this year Downton Abbey is deffo the critics choice and has raised so much profile. I reckon TW will lose out due to the americanisation of the show (thats more likely to win american awards)and Shameless has nooo chance cos its crap. DW has had a bit of a mixed year with reaction so I dont fancy its chances. But heres hoping for the best
