Familiar foes prepare to take to stage in Australia
This weekend a host of familiar enemies will be taking to the stage in Australia in a Doctor Who live show extravaganza – the first to take place outside of the UK!
The concert, hosted by Series 6 guest star Mark Sheppard, will take place at the Plenary Hall, Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, as Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ben Foster, peform an array of Murray Gold’s music from the last 2 series, as a celebration of Matt Smith’s portrayal of the Eleventh Doctor so far.
Specially edited videos will play out on the big screen, as iconic foes, such as the Daleks and Judoon, invade the auditorium. It wouldn’t be a celebration of the show without ‘em!
“Doctor Who’s such a fantastic show,” Mark said. “The music’s been a key component in its success. It is instantaneously identifiable and spine-tingling. I cannot wait to hear the sounds of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra – and the TARDIS – filling Plenary Hall…”

The Managing Director of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Matthew Van Besien, added: “The response from the Australian public to this concert has been overwhelming. I know the Orchestra is looking forward to being part of this world famous production.”
Recent reports claim that “multiple episodes” of Series 7 will be filmed in Australia.
