A thank you: Matt’s message to the “unique” fans!
Matt Smith has recorded a special thank you message as he prepares to film his last ever episode of Doctor Who.
In the video, which was made during production on How to Catch a Monster in Detroit, the actor shares his gratitude for all the support that the “unique” Doctor Who fans have given him throughout his tenure as the Eleventh Doctor.
He’ll bow out in this year’s “spectacular” Christmas Special which will be filmed in Cardiff in the “early autumn”.
He announces: “Doctor Who land, listen – this is a message to say thank you for all your support over the past 4 years, to Steven Moffat and the brilliant cast and crew who have just made the journey marvellous. But what makes this job is the fans. It’s meant a lot.”
We think we speak for fans all over when we say, thank YOU Matt! But it’s not over yet…
Hmm… i suspect he has already filmed his final scenes. The regeneration will start at the end of the 50th Special; and finish at the start of the Christmas Special; so he will, technically, appear in the Christmas one as stated.
Why, because of the buzz cut? ;-) They can always glue his hair back on. :-D I don’t think they’ve filmed it yet, personally; they’d been talking about Matt Smith for Series Eight, after all. Of course, Moffat lies, so it could all have been an elaborate ruse, but I really don’t think so.
And I hope they aren’t regenerating him at the end of the 50th. That’s going to be an awfully busy story as it is.

The hair is one thing, but also just this seems like an odd time to say goodbye like this, if he really does have another episode to come back and film; wouldn’t you say goodbye once you’ve actually left..?
