John Barrowman has revealed that he hopes to return to his most famous role as he thinks “there’s a lot more to tell”.

The actor’s told NerdB*stards that there will always be life left in Jack Harkness (and not just because he is immortal!), despite the fact he hasn’t been seen on screen since the last series of Torchwood, Miracle Day, back in 2011.

“It’s not my decision, it’s a decision for the BBC,” he said. “I go to conventions and see the huge following we have.”

He continued: “There’s still a real hunger for Torchwood and there’s a lot more out there too. There are those missing years that Jack talked about and how he becomes the Face of Boe. But it’s never up to me. It is up to Russell T Davies, Julie Gardner and the BBC.”

And like the rest of us, John is extremely excited to see the TARDIS adventures of Peter Capaldi who he has previously worked alongside on Torchwood: Children of Earth. “I think Peter’s a brilliant actor,” John affirmed. “It’s a very interesting step to have taken.”

Would you like to see a comeback for the Captain!? Let us know in the comment below…

Yes I would like to see Jack Harkness again. He was a very interesting character, and I would be excited for a Torchwood series 5 as well as seeing Jack working with the Doctor once again. It was a shame that John/Jack couldn’t return in “A Good Man Goes to War”, it would have been a fun episode with him (not that it’s not already fun), but on the other hand I was excited about Torchwood: Miracle Day just as much. Yes I think Jack should return again, both in a series 5 of Torchwood and in Doctor Who alongside the Twelfth Doctor.

I really like the character of Jack Harkness, but I’m not sure he’s relevant anymore.

I really disliked Miracle Day and will never watch it again.

It had lost everything that was Torchwood, the story was like very weak tea and far, far too Americanised, losing that British feel that makes up the Doctor Who and Torchwood identity.

If they were to bring Torchwood back, they’d have to do it properly. New British base, new story every one or two episodes, a new hub or base and a new Torchwood team that were likeable, unlike the Americans in Miracle Day.

To be honest though, I genuinely think Torchwood is dead.

As for Doctor Who, as I mentioned, I think Jack Harkness is redundant. He worked well with the 9th and 10th Doctors, but can you really see him interacting with the 12th Doctor?

As much as I love the character of Jack Harkness and enjoy re-watching Torchwood Series 1 & 2, I think he’s been out of the picture too long to be seen again any time soon.

The only good news for John is that it’s assumed Jack will eventually become the Face of Boe, so John could be in his 80s and still play Jack Harness.

Miracle Day killed Torchwood for me…
I’d rather that series have not happened just so Jack could have been in A Good Man Goes To War. He really belonged in that episode, but Miracle Day halted that opportunity.

I would love to see john/jack come back into the 12th doctor as he has so much more to him, we had to suffer river for so long and she had not half the character of jack.

I agree if torchwood did come back it would need to be British made and not have all the American influence just making it a joke it might have looked good for the passing viewer, but for the real fans it just made it a joke.

Hate to burst John Barrowman’s bubble but every companion has more to tell. I don’t want to see him back. I don’t want to see Amy and Rory back either. Big Finish have done some amazing follow up stories for the “classic” companions. even Harry Sullivan and Turlough got follow up’s but the best was always and for me will always be Sarah Jane!

I think they should try to explain his life more. Not because I totally love him and want to see his gorgeous face, but because they kind of left drops here and there of ideas that they might do and never explained. Now whether or not they do it with torchwood or doctor who is a decision bbc has to make up. But I feel like they should wrap up torchwood before moving him back to doctor who. They just left that wide open. Either way I want to see all the characters. Regardless of the way I feel about miracle day and the 456 I love the show and fell in love with the characters. It’s more then a plot line for me; I’m watching their life.

Although Jack is not relevant or current in the Whoniverse, With great writing Jack could easily s be written back in, it was done with Sarah jane in 2006 in School reunion and she fitted right in.And after all it was Mr Moffat that wrote Harkness into the Whoniverse.A reintroduction that led back into a new series of a back to Cardiff Bay ‘monster of the week’ series would be brilliant and not impossible.
