Billie predicts Peter will be “amazing” as the Doctor
Billie Piper has said she’s got high hopes for Peter Capaldi’s portrayal of the Doctor.
Speaking to Flicks and the City at the UK premiere of Penny Dreadful, a new psychological thriller in which she plays the role of Irish immigrant Brona Croft, the Rose Tyler actress described the actor as “a really wise choice” for the part. “I don’t know what he’s like as a person, but he’ll be amazing,” she predicted. “He is so great with comedy but he also has this terrifying and wild nature in his peformances.”
Billie bowed out as the Doctor’s ‘full time’ companion in Doomsday but has made several returns to the series since, most recently in the 50th anniversary special The Day of the Doctor last year. In another new interview with the Guardian, she briefly touches on her original decision to leave the show in 2006. “It was just very hard to have a life and also take care of my family because I was always filming in Cardiff,” she explained. “It was almost impossible. Plus it was a totally different level of fame, which I really don’t miss.”
Penny Dreadful premieres in the UK on Sky Atlantic (Channel 108) on 20th May at 9pm.
