The BBC has decided to cut a scene from Saturday’s episode, Robot of Sherwood, in light of recent worldwide events.

The scene, which involved a beheading, has been removed as it could be deemed insensitive following incidents that have been taking place in Iraq and Syria.

A BBC spokesperson told Radio Times: “In light of recent news events, we have made an edit to episode three out of respect.” The episode, written by Mark Gatiss, airs on Saturday at 7:30pm on BBC One.

Okay, so I can understand why they might want to remove a scene, but they can’t just keep deleting stuff just because the world is an evil place right now. The removal of Vastra and Jenny’s kiss was even worse, but this is also kind of stupid, in my opinion.

Typical BBC knee jerk reaction. There is a history of this sort of thing – even The Movie in 1996 suffered an editing. The BBC should also respect it’s viewers. If people don’t want to watch it, they have an On/Off button or just change the channel. Stop being so far left wing about everything, it is boring…..

Well, the BBC are incredibly Politically Correct, so much so that their PC behaviour has offended me on numerous ocassions.

I can understand that they feel the need to limit the amount of offense they may cause to audiences, especially those in America, but it is a balancing act.

At the end of the day, something will always offend someone, it’s unavoidable.

I don’t really have a problem with this as long as its reinstated for repeats and home video release. if this were a show that went out after the water shed i wouldn’t be so happy but as it is a peak time family show loosing a small scene which may upset a few people is fair enough, in this context i’m fully understanding. if they’d done it for the Vastra scene i would of complained to the BBC for cutting that. if that caused offence to anyone they need re-educating!!! it wasn’t even a kiss, she was blowing air in to Jenny’s lungs.

As long as it doesn’t mess with the story line and that it is on the disc release i don’t mind.
