Your hopes for NuWho’s 10th anniversary
2015 marks the 10th anniversary of Doctor Who’s revived series and, while it’s by no means comparable to the scale of its 50th, it’s still a landmark that deserves to be recognised.
So far the BBC haven’t revealed any details about what – if anything – they’ll be doing to commemorate the milestone but that hasn’t stop fans speculating.
A popular rumour is that characters from the last 10 years will be returning for a series of new minisodes whereas some have called for them to be featured in the series itself.
Perhaps the Twelfth Doctor could phase an enemy from the last decade in Series 9 or maybe a comeback of one of his 21st century companions is on the cards? The possibilities are certainly endless and here’s where you can leave all of our NuWho 10th anniversary hopes and speculation. Let us know what you think the celebrations could entail below…

Russell T Davies, who oversaw the revival, has confirmed he will not be returning in 2015.
Just get David Tennant and John Barrowman together and i guess Capaldi has to be in it,(but not necessarily), even Matt will be cool and yes a miniseries with them together would be really awesome, i miss David desperately……..
A lot of people think that it is rong to celebrate the 10 year mark of New Who but I think that it is a great idea to celebrate 10 year New Who I mean i would not even now about Doctor Who if it weren’t for it nether would any of my friends I think that I am going to whatch my favourites of New Who with my whovian friends
Get all 4 Doctors back (hopefully Chris) if not then just have the 3 (Peter, Matt and David) along with the popular companions (amy and rory would be difficult but if in a flashback perhaps it can be done) along with some of the monsters (Daleks, cybermen, weeping angels, vashta nerada etc) and some of the characters who’ve made an impact on the doctor’s life (sally sparrow, craig, RIVER SONG, Canton Delaware etc) I think it would be fantastic!
I’m a Revived Series fan and wouldn’t have seen Doctor Who without it, but I don’t think it’s necessary to mark its 10th anniversary.
We have only just celebrated 50 years and I can’t think of anything they could do that would be proportional for 10 years, to be honest.
I know why people are saying it’s strange to celebrate a programmes 50th and then it’s 10th the year after. Having said that, it would be very cool to have little minisodes separate to the show (that way people can either accept them as canon or just ignore them) something telling us about the characters we grew to love. Maybe just five minutes of Rose and Ten in the parallel world? Or see what (or who ;)) Jack’s up to? Maybe even the smaller side characters from the episodes.
I don’t think it is necessary! Doctor Who is not 10 years old but over 50. If SM does do a 10th, he will be insulting every Doctor Who and companion from the Classic series. Even Russell T Davis says he should not do it and he brought DW back.
But then this is SM, who seems to believe Doctor Who is only 5 years old anyway.
The 50th, which was really only involved the 10th and 11th Doctors with a new Doctor in the form of John Hurt was ok but given that Paul McGann was up for the role, I think Moffatt is a little to narrow minded and has no imagination to carry the series any more.
I hope they show Christopher on BBC America since I NEVER see reruns of him
If they bring Christopher, David and Matt, along Peter, I’m all in! Just please, this time leave Rose completely out of this.
@Steve
The fact Moffat said that it wouldn’t make sense to do a 10th Anniv special for pretty much the same reasons everyone else is saying that kind of destroys pretty much everything you just said.
I liked Craig (The Lodger & Closing Time), and Canton Everett Delaware III (Mr. Sheppard has been begging for a return) and it would be cool if Tegan or even Susan could return, if only for a short while… there’s also River Song, Captain Jack, Luke from The Sarah Jane Adventures, and even the Doctors daughter/clone-thingy Jenny to consider. I heard a rumor that Christopher Eccleston had already green lighted a return for the NuWho tenth!
I really think it’s a great idea! I hope David, Billie and Matt will be there too and not only Capaldi and Jenna. Looking forward to it!
I seriously doubt the BBC are going to do anything to mark the 10th Anniversary. In a way they are right not to go to any trouble as we have just had the 50th, BUT maybe they could run to re-airing the first episode of each series on BBC2 over eight days around the 10th Anniversary week. Surely that’s not too much to ask?
@Timothy You can pretty much dismiss that rumour. Eccleston will never return to DW.
Sorry if one is to be left out it should be John not Matt@actarus
Thank you for saying that though I doubt it would be that epic.@Mario
If they did something grand it would be good…the kind blew the 50 yr anniversary (heck , the Turn Left/Stolen Earth/Journeys End arc was better than the 50th) , it was more of a 10 yr one as they did not really include anyone but Tom…so one that had some classics would be a step in the right direction as that is what they should of done with the 50th…
I’d like to see the Doctor find Gallifrey. It would be nice, also, if a previous companion from the last 10 years could make a one-off appearance, Jack maybe or Martha and Mickey. I can’t see them doing any more multi Doctor stories for a while.
