Steven Moffat awarded OBE
Congratulations to Steven Moffat who has been appointed OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
The writer, who has served as Doctor Who’s showrunner since 2010, has been awarded the prestigious accolade for his ongoing services to drama. He told BBC News that he was “astonished” when he received the letter. “I’m thrilled,” he said. “I never dreamt that something like this would happen in my career. It’s lovely that writers get awarded at all in this arena. Hopefully it gives comfort to the shy kid at the back of the class with a head full of stories and nobody to talk to.”
His tenure at the helm of Doctor Who has catapulted the series into new levels of success, both in the UK and around the world. He was responsible for casting Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi as the Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors, as well as introducing John Hurt as the secret War Doctor for the 50th anniversary. He recently signed up to oversee Series 10 in 2016.
Dispite the odd naff plot here and there, overall Mr. Moffat has written blinding storylines for both Doctor Who and Sherlock. Well deserved, Sir!
Although I’ve had many strong disagreements with the choices Steven Moffat has made with Doctor Who, I can be gracious enough to congratulate him on this award.
I’m very pleased that Steven Moffatt has been honoured in this way. Congratulations!
I love that in the UK, we award people for absolutely anything. Moffat does not deserve this, his contribution to Doctor Who has been poor. No spin off’s, scrapped Doctor Who Confidential and appalling stories. There are far better people who deserve this more!!
Very well deserved.
