John Barrowman teases Cardiff return
John Barrowman has sent Whovians into a frenzy (we know, so unlike him!) by revealing that he’ll be returning to Cardiff “in about a week and a half”.
While the actor remained tight-lipped about what’s bringing him back to Doctor Who’s homeland, his cryptic tease in a recent Facebook video has inevitably led fans to speculate that he’ll be reprising his role as Captain Jack Harkness in Series 10, which begins filming this month. His popular character was last seen on screen in 2011 in the fourth series of Torchwood.
So, is Jack back? Only time will tell, of course, and it might just turn out that John’s taking a trip to the Doctor Who Experience. He is certainly being secretive for a reason, though…

I’d really like to see Captain Jack Harkness come back to Doctor Who, as both a fan of that show and as a Torchwood fan pre-Miracle Day.
Having said that, I wouldn’t like to see Jack and River together because I think it’d just be complete overkill. They’re obviously both flirtacious people and I think that would get boring and tired after the first few minutes.
Captain Jack is more than that for me though. He rebuilt and ran Torchwood, showing how capable he is in the face of adversity when necessary. Torchwood showed that he can handle authority and YET that he can be dangerous and not always trustworthy, most clearly demonstrated when he sacrificed his own grandson’s life and his life as a Time Agent and Con Man in Series 1 of Doctor Who.
Assuming he goes on to become The Face of Boe, Jack has an interesting past and future that Miracle Day spoilt the appetite for, in my opinion.
The ONLY other issue I can see with Jack returning is the Frobisher issue. OK, so if we accept that the 12th Doctor having the face of an ancient resident of Pompei is due to a message to himself to always try to save someone, why does he look like Frobisher? …….. Jack Harkness knew Frobisher well, he was practically Torchwood’s contact with government, so he’d definitely be taken aback by the 12th Doctor’s appearance.
Oh, and I know it could be a case of spatial genetic multiplicity, but still …… Jack’s reaction to a Doctor with Frobisher’s face would be interesting.
I want to see Leela back but that is not likely to happen – give it a rest Barrowman – your just not that popular!!
Seems like it may just be a Torchwood audio thing after all. John Barrowman has been posting images of him and Gareth David Lloyd in the recording studio. If this really was it, it’s disappointing as I never buy audio plays.
Well, it was good while it lasted.
