neil-cross-confirms-he-is-back-to-write-for-series-8

Neil Cross has confirmed that he’ll be returning to write for Series 8 of Doctor Who.

The writer who penned this year’s adventures The Rings of Akhaten and Hide told Stuff that he will resume his writing duties for the 2014 series, which will be Peter Capaldi’s first in role as the Doctor. “I’m going back but if I told you more I’d have to kill you,” he said. “I have got story ideas tucked away. There is a bunch of stuff I want to do but I’ll have to find out from Steven what his intentions for the Doctor are.”

He added: “I’m really excited about writing for Peter Capaldi but equally sad not to have the opportunity to write for Matt. I think he’s been the most outstanding Doctor to date.”

Are you happy Neil Cross will be returning? Did you enjoy both of his Series 7 episodes?

Filming for Series 8, starring Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, begins in January 2014.

karen-says-she-learned-so-much-from-amy-pond

Karen Gillan has revealed that she “learned so much” during her time playing Amy Pond.

In a new interview with Herald Scotland, the star reflected on her time as the Doctor’s companion, describing it as “the best way” to have spent the last 3 years. “Since I was 21 I was working on it,” she explained. “So I feel like it was the 3 years of drama school I dropped out of and now all of that is coming into play.” She plays the lead in the new film Not Another Happy Ending which premieres this month.

As she looks ahead to her release of her debut movie and other upcoming projects such as Oculus and Guardians of the Galaxy, she admitted she still feels confident she left the TARDIS at the right time. “I went with my gut instinct,” she added. “Regrets are silly anyway. But I actually miss the Daleks – I keep expecting one to be around the corner!”

learn-about-the-creation-of-series-7s-visual-effects

FXGuide have an interesting article offering insights into the creation of some of the visual effects seen in Series 7.

One of the series’ biggest challenges for Stargate Studios, who produce the visual effects for the show, was developing the opening of The Name of the Doctor (for reasons clear to those who have seen it). VFX supervisor Mark Spatny has explained the varied process of creating this sequence and discussed the foundations of the ‘time rift’ plus the “volcanic feel” of Trenzalore.

And journey behind the scenes of Amy and Rory’s fall in The Angels Take Manhattan!

All in all it’s definitely worth a read, though beware of plot spoilers throughout the article.
