Well, we’ve almost made it, folks! It’s Christmas Eve, which means that tomorrow the first part of The End of Time will have its official debut in the United Kingdom, and the Tenth Doctor’s last adventure will begin!
And, as frequent visitors to WhovianNet will know, we’ve been planning our farewell to him for a while now. Since September, to be precise.
Of course, we’re talking about The Christmas Project, which we launched earlier this year with the intention of creating a scrapbook full of your messages to send off to David Tennant to thank him for all his hard work, commitment and dedication to Doctor Who over the past four years. And now the big moment has arrived…
Today, for our penultimate Advent Calendar update, we bring you a video slideshow of some of the pictures (not all of the snaps could be included for privacy reasons – sorry!) we’ve taken of the finished product, which you can view below!
We’d just like to say a big thank you to everybody who contributed, and also everybody who has supported the project, especially Kasterborous and The Doctor Who News Page. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Don’t forget that the deadline for our Tenth Doctor Diary Content is tomorrow (Tuesday December 1st) at 10:00AM GMT!
For the past couple of months, to mark the upcoming regeneration of the Tenth Doctor, we’ve invited our visitors to write a 300 word or less diary entry from the Doctor’s perspective of his reaction to saying goodbye to Lady Christina de Souza and hearing Carmen’s prophecy at the end Planet of the Dead.
You can check out all the details here. The winning entry will be added to our Christmas Project scrapbook.
UPDATE, 01/12/09, 10:00AM GMT: Thanks to everybody who entered! Stay tuned for the results…
The deadline for our Christmas Project has now arrived, which means that, to avoid any confusion, we ask that no more contributions are sent in from now on, as they unfortunately will not be added to the scrapbook.
But we’d just like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our visitors who have taken the time out to put something together for the project since it launched in September.
We’re absolutely thrilled with how it has gone down, and we’ve recieved entries from all corners of the world, including Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and South America, so, fans of the world, thanks for jumping onboard and helping us give David Tennant the send off he deserves!
Watch this space, because we’ll be busy compiling the final scrapbook over the next few days, and pictures will be released as part of our advent calendar.
If you didn’t get around to sending in your contribution, and you would still like a chance to be involved, you can do so by entering our Tenth Doctor Diary Contest, the winning entry of which will be added to the contributions. The deadline for the contest is 10:00AM on Tuesday 1st December.
Just a quick little update to let you all know that the deadline for our Christmas Project has been decided! We’ll officially stop accepting contributions on Friday 27th November, which means you’ve got just under a week left to send yours in if you haven’t done so already!
The Christmas Project has been running since September, and we’re thrilled with how successful it has been, so thanks to everybody who has contributed thus far!
We’ll be busy compiling the scrapbook next weekend (28th-29th November), and we’ll have pictures up as part of our advent calendar, which launches, obviously, on December 1st!
There will be a slight deadline leeway for visitors in different countries/time zones, however we ask that you try your best to get your contributions in by as close to 1:00PM GMT on 27/11/09 as possible.
Don’t forget that our Tenth Doctor Diary Contest also closes soon, on December 1st, and the winning entry will be added to the scrapbook.
Ever wanted to step inside the Doctor’s Converse? Well, now’s your chance too!
We’re delighted to unveil our brand new Tenth Doctor Diary Entry contest, which, as the name suggests, involves writing a diary entry from the perspective of the current incarnation of our beloved Time Lord!
To mark his upcoming regeneration this Christmas, we’re inviting our visitors to submit a 300 word or less diary entry from the Doctor’s perspective of his reaction to saying goodbye to Lady Christina de Souza and hearing Carmen’s prophecy at the end of the Easter special, Planet of the Dead.
The closing date is December 1st, and the winners will be chosen in first, second and third place. The first place winner will have his/her entry added to our Christmas Project scrapbook, which we will be sending to David Tennant in December to thank him for all his hard work and dedication to the show over the past few years (project details/FAQs can be found here).
You can find out all the diary contest information and submission details here, and if you have any other questions, feel free to post them as a comment on this story, or alternatively you can email us at [email protected]. We look forward to hearing your entries!
For those of you who have been wondering about the progress of our Christmas scrapbook for David Tennant, we’re pleased to confirm that it is still going strong and we’ve been overwhelmed by the response we’ve had since we launched the project last month.
We’ve recieved contributions from all corners of the world, and it’s great to see the online community of Whovians coming together to help us give David the send-off he deserves!
We’ll be compiling the scrapbook over the coming months and each and every entry we’ve recieved so far (unless you’ve been told otherwise) will be featured. However, there’s always room for more, so if you haven’t contributed yet, the all-important details can be found here!
Watch this space because we’ll be uploading pictures of the scrapbook at various stages of its compilation!
We’ve recieved many emails from visitors asking about various aspects of the Christmas Project, so we’ve put together an FAQs page featuring all the queries we’ve had so far, which we hope will clear a few things up for you!
We’d also just like to take this oppurtunity to thank everyone (again!) for all their contributions so far. We’re only a few days in to the project but we’ve been blown away by the response, so keep getting your contributions in because it’s getting bigger and better by the day!
A big thanks to all the WhovianNetters who have already sent in their contributions for our Christmas Project!
It really is heartwarming to read all of your messages, and each and every one that we recieve will make it into the final scrapbook which we’ll be sending off to David Tennant himself in December.
And our aim is to fill the book with messages from Doctor Who fans from all over the world, so if you haven’t got around to sending yours in yet, it’s never too late (as a wise person once said…), and you’ve still got plenty of time to make your contribution! We need as many entries as possible for the scrapbook to be a success, so we ask you to please submit anything you can!
You can find the all-important project details by clicking here, and we’d just like to extend our gratitude to Kasterborous.com, who are helping us spread the word! Thank you all!
We’re delighted to announce that today we’ve launched a brand new project: The Christmas Project!
In a nutshell, with the Tenth Doctor’s final episodes on their way, we’ve decided to create a scrapbook over the next few months which we plan to send to David Tennant himself at Christmas (hence the name), to basically thank him for all his hard work, commitment and dedication to the show over the past four years, and to wish him the very best of luck for the future!
Obviously, we can’t do it all by ourselves, and our aim is to fill the scrapbook with messages to the actor from Doctor Who fans from all over the world. It can be anything – just a quick ‘thank you!’ message, a photograph, a piece of fan art, or all three! We would absolutely love for the Internet community of Who fans to contribute and to come together to give David the send-off he deserves!
So, if you’re interested in contributing something, you can find out the all-important details over at our new mini-section devoted solely to the purposes of the project – click here!
