Murray Gold+Ben Foster=Instant Win.

The date of the post informs me that it’s rather likely.
My second choice of composer would have been Bear McCreary (mostly to reinforce the idea that the show is now part American, plus, he’s brilliant), but THIS is the real deal.

Murray Gold only worked on the first two series of Torchwood. Children of Earth was Ben Foster’s work.

As for ‘reinforcing the idea that the show is now part American’ from the commenter above … *hangs head and shakes it* I pity Torchwood. I really do.

It’s a sad state of affairs admittedly, but in some ways I’d rather American money was invested in Torchwood over Doctor Who, so at least the show gets made. The only sticking point comes when the American studio executives start to “suggest really cool ideas” that completely devalue the original product. I’m thinking specifically of the TV Movie here, and also the very true “Episodes” comedy series shown recently. But that said, I’m happy to reserve any judgement until I see Torchwood: Miracle Day this summer. Hopefully, the added American element will bring a whole new dynamic to the team.

What I meant is, Torchwood is now partt american, in its writing staff, its cast, its production staff and so on.

Most people fear the show might lose its identity, ala Doctor Who ‘96 TVM, which is a risk (and irrelevant as long as RTD helms the show, imo), but having half of the production allows to attract loads of talent (I, for one, am glad that Jane Espenson is on board), and Bear McCreary is the most talented American TV music composer.
And I prefer an part American good show to a 100% British Rubbish show (Series 1 and 2 of TW really sucked)
