January 5th, 2010

tenth-doctor-waters-doorThe shortlist for the 15th National Television Awards was unveiled to the public earlier today, and we’re excited to report that both David Tennant and Doctor Who are up for awards!

The former Tenth Doctor actor is nominated alongside David Jason, David Threlfall and Philip Glenister in the Best Drama Peformance category, while the series itself faces competition from Casualty, Shameless and The Bill for Best Drama series.

Head over to the official website now to cast your vote! The winners will be announced at the ceremony on 20th January 2010, which will be hosted by X Factor’s Dermot O’Leary and broadcast live from the 02 Arena on ITV1 from 7:30PM!

The NTAs hold a particular significance in Doctor Who fandom, as it was during David Tennant’s acceptance speech at the 2008 ceremony that he revealed he was leaving the role of the Tenth Doctor. Time flies!
