John Barrowman denies knowledge of Torchwood USA

February 24th, 2010

jack-harkness-tw3As fans across the land try to piece together the unfolding mystery of Torchwood Series 4, its star John Barrowman has revealed that, as far as he’s aware, there are currently no plans to take the Doctor Who spin off to America, despite what we may have read in the newspapers.

“I haven’t heard anything. I have no information on the future of Torchwood,” he exclusively told DigitalSpy. “I’m like everybody else at the moment. I’m so sorry!”

He added: “I love the character, I love the show, and I would love to do it again. I’d love to do more than 5 episodes. But if we’re only going to do 5 episodes, I’m happy with that.”

Rumours of a US version of Torchwood were originally sparked by The Hollywood Reporter last month. Gwen Cooper actress Eve Myles has also recently confirmed that she has no idea as to what form, if any, the future of the series will take. Stay tuned for the latest!

    He mentioned it on the One Show as well, saying much the same thing, that he’d love to do it if offered, but had no idea. Adrian Chiles ‘translated’ that out of actor speak as ‘If you don’t cast me…!’

    Torchwood Magazine did say that Fox had ordered a pilot for US Torchwood, so it has been confirmed by one reliable source.

    There is no way JB would tell anyone until the official announcement anyway. There is always speculation and rumour!!

    I don’t get it: he confirmed that Series Four revert to thirteen episodes, and RTD confirmed that development of Series Four would begin last month; how has he not heard anything?

    Something is going on! They have just sold the Torchwood SUV at Bonhams!
    Another point is if they are making a new series of 13 episodes, how come RTD has gone to Hollywood? So many questions and not enough answers.

    @Steve
    Torchwood Three hasn’t had the SUV since Children of Earth: Day One when it was stolen, hence Gwen and Rhys taking the lorry over to England in Day Two and Jack stealing a stranger’s car in Day Three.

    Don’t see your point. Just because the SUV was stolen, doesn’t mean it was permanently lost!
