Matt, Karen & Steven SFX interview snippets
Issue #194 of SFX Magazine was released across the UK today, and, as well as its 3D cover, inside there’s a 9-page feature previewing the forthcoming series, with exclusive Q&A sessions with Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Steven Moffat!
“The fact that I’m younger, the fact that my soul is different, will add to a different sort of Doctor,” the Eleventh Doctor actor teases. ”It’s a part that allows for everything, every facet of you to be revealed.”
He adds: “I hope it’ll be rich and plentiful, but it’s not something that I have analysed, because he’s changing every day for me.”
Meanwhile, the actress who will be portraying his new companion, Amy Pond, admits that the mini-skirt she’s been spotted sporting in The Eleventh Hour has a genuine purpose in its plot, seemingly adding more fuel to the fire regarding her character being a kissogram! “The thing about Amy is that she has to do things in order to ensure she’s successful in her missions,” she explains. “And that possibly may have been one of the things she had to do…”
And any fans doubting the new showrunner’s techniques can sleep at ease tonight, as his interview confirms that he definitely knows just who he’s making the programme for! “Children will always need a hero who fights monsters but never becomes one,” he says. “I think that’s such an important story for children. And when I say children I mean children of 48. That’s very central. As a myth, that’s really important.”
The magazine also confirms that Series 5 will begin on April 3rd. Despite its 99.9% certainty, transmission details are still to be finalized, but confirmation is expected imminently…

Children of seventeen, too!
To say that the Doctor has never shown a monstrous side to him would be like omitting The Waters of Mars from Doctor Who continuity. Although, that was essentially around ten-to-fifteen minutes of the episode, so… Meh, who am I to argue with The Moff?
