The Sunday Times talk to Karen
The Sunday Times have today released a brand new interview with Karen Gillan, in which she discusses all things Series 5, as its launch creeps ever closer…
She told the website: “The show’s got so many fans who feel quite protective over it, so every time I pick up a script I’m like: “Oh my God, how am I going to do that?” Amy’s a human girl who’s experiencing the most mind-blowing alien things. There’s always a moment when you think: “This is going to take some serious acting to make it truthful”.”
But the actress goes on to admit that although the prospect of the role was daunting at first, filming the new series has been the best experience of her life, and she now feels at home walking around on the set.
“It feels incredibly normal to be on the TARDIS now, because we’re in there so much,” she explained. “Matt has worked out what every single little twiddly bit on the console does and explains it to me, although I can never remember!”
The new series of Doctor Who begins next Saturday on BBC One and BBC HD.
I love the bit about Matt working out “what every single little twiddly bit on the console does”
So excited for next Saturday!
I actually like that she and the Doctor Who team care about what the fans feel and think. I know from experience that that certainly isn’t the case when new teams take over established shows.
I appreciate that Doctor Who wants to move on, wants to gain new fans, but especially that they very much want to take the existing fans with them, or so it seems.
@JC Correction, I know from experience that that isn’t ALWAYS the case when new teams take over established shows, sorry for the double post, just wanted to clear that up.
@JC
Good idea, what with the tetchiness that can occur on the internet!
They should have a DVD extra with Matt explaining each of the little twiddly bits on the TARDIS. That’d be brilliant!
