Bullz-Eye posted a new interview with Piers Wenger earlier this month, in which he promises that Steven Moffat has pulled out all the tops for Series 6 of Doctor Who!

“Steven is coming up with more dark and complicated and strange things to inflict upon Rory and Amy to complicate their relationship,” he explained, “and to kind of mine the Doctor’s relationship with River, to reveal some pretty big truths about that relationship, and also to make some brilliant new monsters.”

He continued: ”I watched an assembly of the first three weeks of filming of the first two episodes on Saturday, and I e-mailed Toby Haynes, who’s directing those episodes, to say “You are shooting the coolest and possibly the scariest new Doctor Who monster in years.” I really, really truly believe that. They are quite terrifying. I worry for the sanity of some of our fans. They are properly scary. They are really going to make the Weeping Angels look like a bunch of stuffy old statues.”

Regarding next month’s special, A Christmas Carol, he said: “We are fairly close to finishing that. We’re still working on the effects shots. The slogan is ‘If Christmastime can be rewritten’ which is why A Christmas Carol made so much sense as a basis.”

These new monsters had better live up to the hype! But with Moffat writing I’m sure they will

I have such a great feeling about the next series; it feels like Moffatt had the first year to get on top of his new role, and this year were going to see more than ever what he’s capable of.

Toby Haynes must feel like the luckiest Doctor Who director of all time: he got to direct a large ensemble of Doctor Who villains, a total event collapse, Michael Gambon, River Song, and is now directing the “scariest Doctor Who villain in years”.

And, every episode he’s directed so far appears to be brilliant (except The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang, which were fantasic)!
