France 4 reveal new trailers ahead of Series 5 debut
February 8th, 2011
As we previously reported, Series 5 of Doctor Who begins airing on France 4 this weekend and, ahead of its debut, the channel has started screening two new adverts to welcome the arrival of the Eleventh Doctor!
The first is a dubbed promo featuring a selection of clips from the first 3 episodes, The Eleventh Hour, The Beast Below and Victory of the Daleks, but it’s the second advert that particularly stands out – for obvious reasons! You’ll see just why by watching below…
Thanks to Aurélie D for the news! Le Prisonnier zéro will air on 12th February at 8.35pm.
Just found out you can buy videos from fr-tvod. Yay! Sherlock’s up there at the mo, so I might shell out a couple of pounds for that.
The actual dubbing looks/sounds less awful than the other promo.
The Dalek’s voice isn’t metallic enough, but is rather fine
Good translation choice on “WHO DA MAN?”.
Calling the Doctor twice in a row “The Doctor Who”, especially, in a silly unnatural sounding sentence made me want to throw stuff at my monitor.
Rather good promo overall.
Still won’t be watching (The UK Season Fnarg DVD boxset having been released the day after my Birthday, I made myself a little present…)
@Ninjamec
I agree about “le Docteur Who” sounding a bit ridiculous, but it didn’t bug me enough to throw things at my computer! I suppose it gets the title of the show in people’s head. En outre, on l’appelle ‘Doctor Who’ tout le temps ici en Angleterre ainsi qu’en France. Il m’énerve ici car on vit dans le pays de naissance de l’émission, mais je pardonnerai les autres pays pour cet erreur.
Le Prisonnier zéro… so they’re renaming the episodes?? I really see the need.
hahaha I love the dancing Daleks in the second video. I want to watch this so when my roommate asks what I’m doing I can say I’m revising for French. hehe
@Sean
Well, the phrase ‘the eleventh hour’ doesn’t really exist in French – they say ‘at the very last minute’/'à la toute dernière minute’ instead. So yeah, even if they’d wanted to keep the number eleven in there, they’d've struggled.
