I think it’s because it seems to be building up as well, there are more and more looks and lines. I could avoid the end of “Flesh and Stone” and that, but if it’s gonna keep happening, it has a cummulative effect.

I do respect your opinion TWWL, seriously and I’ve thought about it quite a lot, but I still don’t feel right about that, just as I avoid the end of “Flesh and Stone” on the DVD.

I ask myself: Is it acceptable to look up women’s skirts as a joke?……….well, no, it isn’t really.

It’s not even just that, it think it’s because it happened to the beautiful Amy Pond (I love Karen, in a non-weird, non-stalker, non-actual-love kind of way, lol) and that it happened on Doctor Who.

Well, it wasn’t so much the looking up the skirt business as the implications of Rory’s reaction to having two Amys around. Yeah, kids will laugh about the skirt thing but, depending how young they are, the implication of a threesome could be quite… Anyway, that was what pushed it over the line for me.

It made me like Amy less and Matt more….he has slowly grown on me……btw is it the Amy show now as it seems to be all about her …i thought the whole premise of the show was the adventures of a time travelling Doctor and his companion/s…not the other way round…sort of a naive gooseberry.i know it was a short burst but it does seem to be going that way…perhaps SM has a Thing for KG.pERHAPS ITS JUST ME ,i dont want to rant on,oh and my kids just giggled at the amy showing her knickers ,they were oblivious to anything sexual going on i dont think kids see things on that level even though us adults may fret about it,remember RTD there were lots of sexual and homosexual undertones in his writing.

Since the show has come back, it has ALWAYS given a lot of time to the companion. It was practically the Rose show when she was around. The companion isn’t a secondary character, they are the co-lead.

And yes, there was just as much naugtiness under RTD.

Hmm. It’s interesting to see how everyone thinks of this. I was slightly surprised about the jokes. While I have definetly seen worse, this is a family show. But, I think Doctor Who does have some sexual innuendos and jokes, but in my opinion they are well hidden. Like “dancing” in the Empty child. I’m honestly fine with it. Kids have seen worse on TV and I doubt most kids will even get the innuendos.

I think it was the Rose show for the whole RTD era minus the 2009 specials.
-Season 27&28 were total Rose show with Chris Eccleston and David Tennant as sidekicks (especially 28). The only episode in which she doesn’t star, is Love and Monsters, which doesn’t have much of the Doctor either, plus she has her very own Christmas special (Christmas Invasion).
-Season 29 was DT moping over his losing Rose, and Martha was just here to lurve the Doctor, who saw her as the poor man’s Rose (even though Martha was a much more compelling character than Rose, and could have been even better had she not be treated that way), I mean come on, every other episode, “Rose would have done that”, “Rose would have known what to do”. It was extremely annoying.
-Season 30 was much better in this regard, Donna had a great character development. I’m glad Catherine Tate decided to do Doctor Who again, because RTD’s initial plan, with Penny and the doctor luuuurving her at first sight was dreadful. On the other hand, Rose cameos in a few episodes (Partners in crime, poison sky and midnight, iirc) were a cheap publicity stunt so tell viewer that it will be the Rose show again, which it was from Turn Left to Journey’s end.

In Comparison, Amy’s so called prominence is preposterous. 1 season in, we had 3 episodes mostly without her (Hungry Earth, Lodger, Christmas Carol), and her story arc is not “OMG look how great she is” (Rose Tyler Comparison : Rose, otoh, had this precise story arc). So yeah, Steven had fun writing her on a flipping 6 minutes special, that doesn’t make her the star of the show in his mind.
