Freema says the door is always open for her to return
March 5th, 2011
Freema Agyeman appeared on Graham Norton’s Radio 2 show earlier today and during the interview she briefly discussed the possibility of her reprising her role as Martha in a future series of Torchwood.
“In the 5-part series, Children of Earth, it was mentioned that I was on my honeymoon somewhere, so it’s not a closed door,” she said. “It never is in a series like that, for any of the characters. Once you’re part of that world it could be twenty, forty years before you pop your head back in!”
Martha must come back to Torchwood at some point. I also think she should come back to Dr Who one day! I personally don’t think she got a proper resolve at the end of the RTD era
Yh, sounds great that she might be coming back to Torchwood but i really hope that she returns to Doctor Who :)
Martha and Jack definitely need to return, but should Mickey return with them…?
I cant see Moffat bringing back anyone from Tens era apart from River and perhaps Jenny. I think he wants to leave them all behind and start fresh with Matt, Karen and Arthur. Would love to see some old characters back though :’)
She’s no longer vital to the plot of either Torchwood or Doctor Who, so they won’t bring her back to clear up any plot holes (except maybe why she and Mickey are together…)
I’d like to see her come back to Torchwood though because I actually liked her when she wasn’t pining after the Doctor.
Bring her and Mickey back. Maybe not to Torchwood, but definitely to Doctor Who!!
@e.p
Yeah – whatever happened to Tom? I had it all plotted out in my head, but it’d be nice to hear the ‘truth’. Actually, that might be the one question I would ask RTD if I met him.
@TSG
I think she was still engaged to tom during the sontaran story but she left with Mickey and Jack at the end of Journeys End. It could be she spent more time with Mickey as a result (dont forget she could never really speak to Tom about what she’d been through) and probably a romance blossomed and she left Tom
@pirko
But in one of the Torchwood stories, no, actually, it was in Children of Earth – it was stated she was on her honeymoon. When did that air in relation to s4 of DW?
@TSG
It was after series 4, during the summer of that year-long wait for the Doctor’s regeneration. I guess she was on honeymoon with Mickey?
Whoops meant to reply to @e.p , not TSG. But you’ll all read it anyway :)
@TSG
That aired (so assuming that the story was set) in 2009- July 2009. So Martha had a full year to change her mind with Tom and got with Mickey. Who knows
BRING BACK BILLIE PIPER PLEASE!
@pirko
I was writing a story in which Tom was killed during the series 4 finale. It would have carried on to follow Mickey and Martha’s relationship… except I don’t think I ever got past the first chapter. But I think I like your version better – it’s much less violent.
@Darren Grocott
Don’t you think that Rose’s story has come to an end now? What else could you do with the character?
@TSG
If Billie ever comes back I would want it to be a cameo of her and David as the human-Doctor-Donna from Pete’s World. But a cameo is all they need. You’re right, we’ve moved on and it seems the Doctor has as well.
Martha can come back at any time, because I’m pretty sure the Doctor still has the phone, although that was proven in a doctor magazine comic strip where martha contacts the matt smith doctor to go to japan. Also Mickey getting married to her is a story we need to see. Also I’m sick of Rose, I loved her being in the show and i was sycked about her return, but if she were to reprise her role as rose, it would be a spinoff that takes place in the parrelel world where rose, her mom, her (step)dad, and the tenth doctor clone would be continuing to fight of the cybermen that are currently still active
They should bring Rose back with the new Doctor Matt Smith and Karen Gillan and it would be Rose and Amy Pond together both as companions and she can be the love of the doctor’s life. They could have the Bad Wolf story where she can never die like Captain Jack because she absorbed the time vortex and survived before the ninth Doctor regenerated in 2005.
@Darren Grocott
Would that really be a tangible storyline? I think not. Rose has had her day.
