Steven says Series 7 will be “moving a bit later”
Steven Moffat has revealed a few more details about what form Doctor Who will be taking in 2012.
14 new episodes starring Matt Smith were commissioned back in June, and it was later suggested that they’ll be aired across 2012 and 2013, meaning no full series next year. However, the showrunner has told The Daily Beast that the rumours of budget cuts are “absolute nonsense”. “We are airing in 2012,” he said. “The only thing that’s happening is that we’re moving a bit later.”
He continued: “There is lots of reasons for that that will become clear quite soon. It is certainly not a reduced episode count. Do you think the BBC would let that happen? With an average audience of 10 million? Doctor Who’s international profile is huge. It’s never been more successful. You’re not going to reduce it. The opposite is going to happen.”
Series 6 will continue this Saturday in Let’s Kill Hitler, airing at 7:10pm on BBC One.
“It’s pretty much answer, answer, answer in a way.” – YES! Thank you, thank you, thank you! But equally, I’m glad they’re introducing new questions by the end of the series. Gotta keep a balance.
I pretty sure Amy and Rory are gonna leave the Tardis by the end of series 6, that’s why they’re gonna have to search for a new companion for 2012… Maybe there’s also the thing about the anniversary in 2013, they’re surely planning a big thing …
Finally! I mean, it was already known that Series Seven was airing in Autumn 2012 but some official confirmation is good. Now all we need is Danny Cohen not to mess up again and tell a load of lies that contradict one another. However, does this mean we’ll have a special (a Summer special to replace a Christmas special perhaps?) at some point in the first half of the year with Series Seven airing in the Autumn?
One thing that’ll be strange, however, is an RTD-style series with an arc that concludes at the end of the series.
