goodbye-hello-and-then-some-discuss-series-7

As you’ll all know, filming for the brand new series of Doctor Who is now underway and, although it won’t actually grace our screens until the autumn, we have already been given plenty to talk about, and here’s where you can do it!

In Series 7, we know that Amy and Rory will be bidding farewell to the TARDIS after “a final encounter with the Weeping Angels”, and the terrifying statues won’t be the only familiar foes making a comeback, as the Daleks will also be making an appearance!

As soon as the Ponds have left the building in Episode 5 (scenes for which will be filmed in New York…), the Doctor will be meeting a new and “very different” friend in this year’s Christmas Special. The new companion will be portrayed by Emmerdale actress Jenna-Louise Coleman, who will lead the Doctor to “his merriest dance yet”. Hm…

    As long as John Simm and John Barrowman show up sometime (and stick around) and Alex Kingston just shows up for one or two episodes and it’s done (because we’re fed up with River Song!), I’m happy.

    I cannot wait! I hope Alex Kingston comes back! She’s one of me and my friends (shout out!) favorite characters. I hope is new companion is less annoying than Amy. Amy acts too “clever” and try’s to be too “witty”. ;)

    This article doesn’t tell us anything we haven’t read already does it?

    @Grace Yep! Basically if these “rumours” asre true it will finally prove SM has no imagination to create new situations after 2 years of being Head Writer. He should stop going over old ground. I am not hopefully about the new year and I am more worried about the 50th Anniversary. It will more likely be a wimper than a big bang of excitment, riddled with complications and more soap opera! So I challenge him to prove me wrong!

    @Grace
    This is just a discussion thread for the series rather than a news article.

    @Patrick
    It’s still around. Look under the “Most commented” box and it’s the first on the list.

    its just like how the series 6 discussion started :) it tells us a few things that we know already then share our ideas of what might happen in the series and who might return etc

    It’s a fair bet The Daleks will return this year, having been more or less rested last series. I think they needed to be left alone for a bit, but I’m ready for a really good Dalek story now.

    @TWWL
    To be honest, I agree but I still wouldn’t mind if they didn’t return until next year. Although, maybe they could appear briefly at some point this series like the Dalek in The Wedding of River Song.

    If the Daleks, the CyberMen,or even The Silence are going to be drug out, all I ask is that they’re not underused! That was one of the biggest complaints last year (by me).

    I felt like for all the purpose the villians served, cardboard copies could have been sat up and placards with their famous lines could have been written on them and read as needed! Moffat turned our favorite villians into caricatures of themselves! All I’m saying is it was a terrible time to be a Cyberman!

    @TWWL I think the Daleks should be rested again this year and come back next year in a 50 celebration special. Both Doctor Who and the Daleks will be 50 years old (Daleks are only 6 weeks younger than Doctor Who)

    @Steve
    This series goes into next year, I think, and then into those 50th anniversary stories, so yeah, could very well be a build up to a big Dalek story.

    It’s been a terrible time to be a Cyberman since the show came back, they haven’t been what they should and could be in any modern story. There is so much creepy potential, but they’re just blank, lumbering morons in modern Who. Though their brief appearance in the pandorica Opens was nice and creepy.

    @TWWL I have to disagree (no surprise there) Other than Earth Shock, these new Cybermen are so much more closer to the original 1960’s, than the 1980’s Cybermen. The 1980’s Cybermen were to emotional!. The new series Cybermen (except for last years ridiculous story) are uniformed, dangerous and single minded.

    @Steve
    Dangerous? Pah. They’re giant toys, not dangerous seeming at all. The idea behind The Cybermen is horrific, the execution on screen is dull. They could and should be amazing.

    Okay guys…I had to think on the whole Cyberman issue because TWWL made a good point in one sense: The Cyberman in the Pandorica was pretty cool!

    But I can also think of a few great DT Cyber moments…in the sewer with Mrs. Moore! She and the Doctor are forced to walk past all those cybermen and she was sure one of them moved just after she trusted the doctor with her real name…

    Or, the Army of Ghosts when the cybermen cut through the plastic and they take over Torchwood! And then suddenly they just showed up in everyone’s house! It was awesome!

    Two really great Cyber moments with them doing what they do best. Multiply!

    Now quick, for Season Six can anyone remember any great cyber moments? Anyone?
