On this day back in 2010… and the rest is history!
3rd April is another historic date in Doctor Who’s mythology, as it marks the anniversary of The Eleventh Hour!
On this day back in 2010, millions of people tuned in for the Eleventh Doctor’s long awaited debut. And the rest, as they say, is history! Since then, we have accompanied him on his voyage through time and space, facing the likes of Daleks, Weeping Angels and Silurians along the way. What lies in store for him this year? As filming for Series 7 continues, it won’t be long before he’s back on our screens once more…
So, what are your favourite Eleventh Doctor era moments so far? Do you remember sitting down to watch The Eleventh Hour all those 730 days ago? Will you be having a special helping of fish fingers and custard in celebration? Share your comments below…
I remember this episode so vividly as during that week I was on holiday in a cottage in Dorset and I remember the whole family was sat down watching it. It still remains one of my favourite episodes in the history of who :)
My favourite moment was most definitely the fish custard scene terrific acting by matt and caitlin for that scene and also enjoyed the scenes with matt and the guy who played Jeff true genius and quite funny.
Just an outstanding episode; for me it’s up there with Spearhead From Space as the best introduction story for a new Doctor; Smith is immediately brilliant.
I remember being on holiday in Bodmin, after attending one of those speical screenings of the first scene (in 3D!) in Plymouth – Cybermen and Ood all around!
We rushed back to the cottage and watched the best Doctor intro story. Series 5 remains a firm favourite.
The 3rd of April marks the day Doctor Who was ruined
@Tom
Are you serious tom? how was doctor who ruined? as far as i know its been more exciting!
@Tom
Never let it be said that Dr Who ‘fans’ go over the top.
Ruined. Dear me.
@Tom
Tom you cannot put a remark like that on ANY forum without backing it up with your reasoning ? Failing to do so removes your right to make such a comment in the 1st place ! So…come on then…HOW and WHY was Dr Who “ruined” in your opinion ?
@TWWL
Yep have to agree here, there have been some duff intro stories but Eleventh Hour is up there with the best of them !
@Tom
Doctor Who began another era, and I think it’s pretty much the best era of Doctor Who there has ever been, although Matt Smith still can not beat David Tennant’s era being my favorite, he is genuine, a great actor and all of his adventures are very exciting and good plotted.
@Tom I would not say it was ruined Tom but certainly the quality of the show has deteriorated in the last 2 years. MS still could be a brilliant Doctor but needs better stories and a better companion! The best thing now is to kick SM off the show and get someone in who knows Doctor Who and will bring it back to the show it should be. Even MS has said he get confused by the story line.
@Steve
Not certainly, you mean in your opinion.
Remember it well
Matt did a great job on this one, behaving just like DT for pretty much the whole story which I loved, there were also some nice “fan” moments in the story which was great. I watched this one with Mum and Dad who are not big fans but we all loved it
Kind of have the same feelings as Tom :L For many people, Who has just carried on getting better and better, for me personally (and this is just my opinion so noone take offence) Who has degenerated from my favourite show on television to something I have on as background noise when new series are shown :L And I hate that!
@Katie
I appreciate you view, because not everyone can agree, but at the end of the day Who is a show all about change and has been ever since 1964 when the first companion left.
For me the Steven Moffat/Matt Smith era is more intone with the classic series and more of what Doctor Who should be, but I naturally still love the RTD era as well.
For some reason, I managed to skip over The Eleventh Hour, The Beast Below & Victory of the Daleks, and watched Time of Angels as my first episode with Matt Smith as The Doctor. Norwegian TV doesn’t air DW, so I have to watch online, and I guess I didn’t quite follow the news of the new series. I love Matt Smith, though. His Doctor is right up there with Tennant’s in my opinion. I’m excited to see how series 7 will be.
