Not one, not two, but THREE episodes from last year’s series of Doctor Who are included in the nominations list for this year’s Hugo Awards!

The Doctor’s Wife, A Good Man Goes to War and The Girl Who Waited have all found themselves in the running for the ‘Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form’ award. They are up against The Drink Tank and Community.

The results will be revealed at Chicon 7 this September.

Last year the Series 5 final, The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang, was awarded the title.

    I want The Girl Who Waited to win, I think, although to be honest I’m torn between that one and The Doctor’s Wife. They were both so so brilliant. Can everyone else make arguments that will help me make up my mind?

    I agree with you though I’m not sure on The Doctor’s Wife. When I first watched it I didn’t enjoy it but I’ve watched it more and more and started to slightly enjoy it but I just prefer The Girl Who Waited as the performance by Karen especially as older Amy was outstanding as was Arthur and Matt. I don’t know how the opening 2 parter wasn’t up for the award though.

    I’m hoping for The Girl Who Waited. It was a very emotional episode, and the whole concept was so interesting. I was thoroughly moved by it.

    Hopefully either the Doctor’s Wife or A Good Man Goes To War wins. I’m slightly surprised that The Impossible Astronaut or Day of the Moon weren’t nominated.

    It’s The Doctor’s Wife for me; though like others, baffled how they overlooked Impossible/Moon. For me it was the story of the season, and certainly better than A Good Man Goes To War. Though as the catagory states ’short form’ perhaps something like a two parter could not be considered, only the stand alones.

    What about The God Complex?!? The Doctor’s Wife of those listed, but really…

    Two parters have been nominated in the past (Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang) ;)

    @Rosalie
    I’d have preferred The God Complex rather than The Girl Who Waited personally, cracking episode!
    The Doctor’s Wife is the clear winner though, instant classic!

    The God Complex was a good episode but not as strong and good as the girl who waited. It had superb acting in the latter and had a great but sad twist at the end. I’m not saying the former wasn’t acted great it was and it was a really good idea but just lacked something, something that wasn’t quite there cause it was kind of straightforward in the end really.

    I just felt that the emotion was a bit piled on in The Girl Who Waited, and got in the way of a strong concept. It’s not like we didn’t already know how much Amy and Rory care for each other!
    Much preferred the escapism, humour and more subtle emotion of God Complex. Toby Whithouse for showrunner!
    Still, each to their own!
