Official website invites fans to “Help Make History!”
The official Doctor Who site has invited fans to decide which real life historical figure the Doctor should bump into during an upcoming short story.
A writer will be penning a new and exclusive adventure for the website, in which the Doctor will encounter a famous face from a time gone by. Just who that famous face is will be chosen by one of the show’s executive producers, Caroline Skinner, who will take her pick from a whittled down list of visitor suggestions. Go and have your say!
Let us know which name you’ve put forward, and why, in the comments section below…
Ada Lovelace, first female programmer. Victorian steampunk-y goodness, a feisty woman who’d give him a run for his money. Imagine how fascinated she’d be by the TARDIS.
A full episode with Queen Elizabeth I would be awesome!
I submitted an idea, but it was a complete wildcard and definitely won’t be chosen, but it’s great the BBC have chosen to interact with the fans like this.
First off, thanks for the link. I hadn’t seen this. I submitted the idea of having the Doctor meet Abraham Lincoln.
The Doctor has met my country’s worst President (Nixon – one of the worst anyway) so I think it would be fitting and a welcome 180 degree turn, if the Doctor were to encounter one of my country’s best Presidents, if not our best President, Abraham Lincoln.
If I’m remembering correctly, the 1st Doctor watched Lincoln giving his Gettysburg address on the Viewer in the episode, “The Chase”. It would be funny if it was now revealed that the 1st Doctor looked away just in time to miss the 11th Doctor come up behind Lincoln and give a little wave! (Like what the 11th Doctor was doing in the opening moments of “The Impossible Astronaut”.)
