BBC Four will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who by going back in time to see how the legend began!

Later this month the channel will be broadcasting the first ever serial, An Unearthly Child, in its restored entirety.

Written by Anthony Coburn and C. E. Webber, the opening adventure began on BBC One on Saturday 23rd November 1963 and introduced audiences to William Hartnell as the original incarnation of the now iconic Time Lord.

An Unearthly Child airs on BBC Four on Thursday 21st November from 10:30pm. It will be preceded by the premiere of An Adventure in Space and Time, the docudrama telling the story behind the show’s origins, on BBC Two at 9pm. See the full UK schedule HERE.
