The Time of the Doctor: new cast, crew interviews!
Now The Time of the Doctor’s just a stone’s throw away, the BBC has released new interviews with its cast and crew!
In a video Q&A Matt Smith promises his Doctor will “go out with a bang, a crash and a wallop” and confirms he is “really thrilled” with his swansong performance. “It’s bittersweet for me because I’m leaving,” he explained. “So when I read the last 20 pages it was a hard read but I hope it’s going to be a belter and Steven’s managed to tie up those plot points and narratives from over the years which I think is ingenious.”
The showrunner himself has also given an insight into how long he’s been developing the Eleventh Doctor’s demise revealing he’s had the idea “for a long while”. He said: “A few months before I’d wrote it, I said to Mark Gatiss I knew what his last words would be…”
The seasonal special will also be full of heartbreak for companion Clara, who will have to come to terms with a brand new Doctor moments after losing her first one. “The episode is very much about the Eleventh Doctor and Clara’s last adventure,” Jenna Coleman has revealed. “There is so much I’ll miss about Matt. He is so inventive, funny and clever.”
The Doctor and Clara will be aided in the festive escapade by Tasha Lem played by Orla Brady. “The Doctor goes to see Tasha as they’re old friends,” the guest star said of her mysterious character. “He needs her help and knows he’ll find it with her as she’s loyal.”
We highly recommend reading all their full interviews as they feature several interesting tidbits about what’s ahead! The Time of the Doctor airs on BBC One on Christmas Day…
