Luke Pasqualino, who is currently appearing alongside Peter Capaldi in the BBC’s new drama series The Musketeers, has predicted that his co-star will be “amazing” as the Doctor.

The actor has wished Peter the very best of luck in his latest job as the leading Time Lord as he described him as “a very generous and lovely man”.

“He’s one of the greatest character actors of our time,” Luke recently told Digital Spy. “He was an asset to this show.”

The former Skins star affirmed there are no hard feelings between The Musketeers crew and Peter, whose commitment with Doctor Who means he won’t be returning as Cardinal Richelieu in the historcial epic’s newly-commissioned second series. Luke added: “He was made an offer he couldn’t refuse. We respect that and wish him luck for the future.”

    @Clara Evans
    We don’t even know when it’s out in the UK, but it’ll probably be around the same time.
