With Cybermen on the streets of London, old friends unite against old enemies and the Doctor takes to the air in a startling new role. Can the mighty UNIT contain Missy? As the Doctor faces his greatest challenge, sacrifices must be made before the day is won.

The Twelfth Doctor faced his greatest challenge yet tonight in the finale of his debut series.

After Dark Water’s momentous cliffhanger, the action showed no signs of slowing down as we dived head first into Series 8’s climactic adventure. In true Steven Moffat style, our heads were left racing before the opening titles had even rolled, and what followed was an epic and life changing battle which saw old alliances uniting against even older enemies…

As the Doctor took to the air in a startling new role, UNIT tried to contain Missy, and Clara Oswald and Danny Pink faced heartbreak as their destiny was determined. Grave sacrifices were made and the Doctor was left questioning his own loyalties in a dramatic showdown, but was Death in Heaven a worthy conclusion to this year’s series? Have the loose ends been tied up for you, or were you unsatisfied with Steven’s script? Rate and discuss below!

And that, Whovians, is that! As far as Series 8 goes, anyway… So. Is it Christmas Day yet!?

I hate Moffat so much for ruining the show. I’m really in mourning as I know the show is dead. Absolutely brainless nonsense with forced comedy and fake emotion. Not happy with destroying the Master, he spits on the Brigadiers grave.
Usual predictable kitchen sink stuff from idiot Moffat. I will never watch again til he’s been sacked.
    Feel so sorry for Capaldi.

    Moffat,

I am done with you. It was good, but then you ruined it. So thanks.

“First of all, I don’t understand how EVERYONE can forget about the cybermen? Has the episode Army Of Ghosts been forgotten? They pretended to be ghosts for months, it even got so popular that there was a ghost watch, but now everyone is taking selfies with them?”

The general line on Doctor Who is that everybody forgets stuff like that. I mean, it’s hardly just Army of Ghosts. This was the *fourth* time the Cybermen massively and publicly invaded London. There was the Victorian invasion in “The Next Doctor”, and they also invaded in the 1970s (filmed in the 1960s), causing problems with Britain’s manned space program. Which, by 1980, was sending an astronaut to Jupiter, twenty-one years ahead of Arthur C Clarke’s vision of a Jupiter program. A long-lived time-traveling sci-fi series eventually will run into the problem of history contradicting continuity.

If we can forget that Britain had a successful manned space program, we can apparently also forget various high-profile invasions by Cybermen, Zygons, Daleks, dinosaurs, Sontarans and so forth. The show has a very long history of just winking and nodding away that sort of thing, so I won’t blame them for doing that again in this case. After all, trying reconcile history and continuity is probably an exercise in futility in any case, so why not?

I guess I’m in the minority here but I absolutely loved this season. Maybe it’s because I love ‘The Thick of It’ so much that I’m loving Capaldi’s Doctor.

I thought Missy was fantastic. John Simm was my first Master and I think Michelle Gomez nailed that same kind of crazy.

I think Moffat is rocking it with his running of the show and I hope he doesn’t change.

There’s nothing wrong with having a different opinion to the majority of comments here. There’s way too much negativity on the internet when people disagree and I hope WhovianNet continues to be a place where that isn’t the case.

That was fantastic. It was amazing finding out that missy was the master. But it was really sad when Danny died and he then turned into a cyberman. I had to hold the tears back the whole time whovians.

As always: KEEP CALM AND LOVE DOCTOR WHO!!!

    That was an amazing episode.
It was so sad when Danny Pink died and then turned into a cyberman.
It was great finding out that Missy was the master.
It was the worst knowing that the kids at school didn’t know the difference between DOCTOR WHO & DR SUESS!!!

Disappointing, badly written, manipulative, not sure I want to continue watching. This has not been a good season.

And BTW, I’ve been watching the series from the First episode back in the early 60’s. I’ve grown up with this show. I was offended by the trite, cliche-ed, derivative stories this season. I’m sure Peter Capaldi will make a wonderful Doctor, as soon as he gets writers who understand the show and who KNOW how to write a GOOD script. He does not have that at the moment, and if he doesn’t get that very quickly, then I can see this show being cancelled…. again.

So do you think Steven Moffat is a good writer for doctor who?

@@Millsy No, he does not understand the concept for the show. Had this been a new show, it would be spot on but he is completely ignoring 50 years of history!
