Series 9 wins Golden Tomato Award
Series 9 of Doctor Who has won a Golden Tomato Award for its “emotionally engaging tone”.
Peter Capaldi’s second string of adventures as the Twelfth Doctor received the highest overall rating – an average of 4.5/5 – on the high profile Rotten Tomatoes website, which encourages readers to vote for their favourite shows. It beat Game of Thrones, which came second, as well as Marvel’s original Netflix series Daredevil and Ash vs Evil Dead, which finished in third and fourth place, respectively. It also came fourth in the Best Returning TV Show of 2015 category.
The series is also in the running for Best Drama in next week’s National Television Awards, so be sure to support the Whovian cause before voting closes on 20th January. With such a positive response to the latest series, the future is looking very bright for the world’s longest running sci-fi franchise as it heads into its tenth revived series, which is expected to hit our screens later this year.
