As reported by The Courier, a new Doctor Who game entitled The Mazes of Time is to be released for the iPod, iPhone and iPad this Christmas!
During the game, which is produced by Tag Games, fans will be able to play as the Doctor or Amy in an adventure written by Oli Smith, who also wrote the Return to Earth and Evacuation Earth Wii and DS games. The game will be available to download from the iTunes store soon – we’ll bring you more details as and when!
The Doctor Who Wii game, Return to Earth, was released yesterday, however reviews that have appeared online thus far are sadly not as positive as we would’ve hoped!
The Official Nintendo Magazine gave the game just 19%, summing it up as ”a profoundly miserable experience”, while Digital Spy have described the gameplay as “horrendously difficult”. Of course, it’s all about personal preference, so if you’ve got the game, let us know if you agree or disagree with the reviews below!
Oli Smith has spoken to BANG Showbiz about the new Doctor Who Wii game, Return to Earth, which is released this month!
As Female First reports, the writer of the game explained his decision to feature the Daleks and the Cybermen. He said: “The Daleks were a must have, you would be foolish to have the Doctor’s first Wii game and not have the classic monsters! We had to make sure the Daleks and the Cybermen were a big deal when they arrive in the game.”
The game sports new dialogue from Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, and Smith has revealed that they’re both “very enthusiastic” about the interactive adventure. “I don’t think they’ve have had a chance to play yet but they’re very enthusiastic about it,” he continued. “It was the best day of my life when they came in to do the voice parts.”
In addition, gamers will be able to buy a replica sonic screwdriver shaped Wii remote.
Meanwhile, a DS Game, Evacuation Earth, also written by Oli Smith, is on its way too!

Russell T Davies has promised that the story behind the new series of Torchwood will examine some “very big issues”, going “to the heart of every one of us and every family”.
Speaking to Collider, the creator of the spin off teased: “The questions it asks will cut right beneath your everyday life of work, sleep, food and family. I think we’ll challenge you and disturb you. The questions never really stop. That’s the fun of it. A whole 10 hours is a long time for a story to roll, but there’s that much power behind it.”
Regarding Captain Jack’s loss at the end of Children of Earth, Davies explained: “We will deal with it properly, sensibly and intelligently, but at the same time, the most important thing is to move on. Move on, look up, start a new relationship, and look towards the horizon and the dawn. There will be a lot of that with Jack as well.”
From the interview we also learn that the new series will be set two years after Series 3, and that Captain John “could” return however he won’t be appearing in The New World. Meanwhile, Julie Gardner has promised that the writing is “organic”, and suggested a possible appearance for Torchwood at next year’s San Diego Comic Con!
Filming for The New World will officially begin in the UK and the US in January 2011.
A big thanks to the Official Nintendo Magazine for sending us the link to their video review of the new Doctor Who sonic screwdriver Wii remote!
You’ll be able to buy the accessory soon, ahead of the release of the Return to Earth Wii game. A similiar DS stylus for the Nintendo DS game, Evacuation Earth, will also be available.
