With the Series 6: Part 2 premiere dates already announced for the US, Canada and Australia, fans in the UK are still on tenterhooks about when the Doctor will be back for us.
Although it’s expected to begin on BBC One on 27th August, there’s no mention of it on the BBC Press Office’s listings for that date. However, it’s not unusual for the BBC to hold off confirming the details until closer to the time, and so a 27th August premiere in the UK is still very much plausible, with the schedules to be finalised later this week.
It’s unlikely that Series 6: Part 2 will air in the US first, and the only reason Miracle Day was is because, as the BBC has explained, Starz in the US had “the contractual right to the World Premiere”. So, fans in the UK can be assured that it won’t be long, and that the Doctor’s definitely on his way back. We, um… just don’t know when for sure yet!

The new deal will see them co-develop further one-hour TV dramas to be distributed in the US and Canada by Starz and internationally by BBC Worldwide. Head of BBC Worldwide, Jane Tranter, has said that the deal will enable them to work together on more “intelligent, and honest storytelling” like the new series of Torchwood.
She explained: “Working with Starz on Torchwood: Miracle Dayhas been a collaborative and invigorating journey, and we are looking forward to bringing Starz subscribers more of the programming they’re coming to expect, which is synonymous with BBC values.”
“This exciting partnership with BBC Worldwide Productions allows us to provide Starz subscribers more original programming,” Chairman/CEO of Starz, Chris Albrecht, added. “The incredible teams at BBC Worldwide Productions will be terrific partners. We’re pleased to be able to extend our relationship with them through this venture.”
A fifth series of Torchwood is yet to be confirmed, with Chris Albrecht having recently commented that the future of the series depends on Russell T Davies’ commitments.

John Barrowman has said that working on Torchwood is “the best job in the world” in a new interview with the Mirror.
“It’s the best job in the world and I love everything about it,” he told the newspaper. “I’m not ashamed of that. My partner Scott said to me one day, ‘What have you been up to?’ and I replied, ‘Well it was fantastic, this morning I blew up a space ship and fired a machine gun from a Land Rover, as I drove across the beach chased by a helicopter. Then I went off and had sex with a 22-year-old…’”

John Barrowman has said that the Torchwood will always be British at heart, no matter where in the world it is filmed.
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday about suggestions that the new series, Miracle Day, has become too Americanized, the actor explained: ”Throughout the series, we will always return to Wales or some place in the UK. Anyone can turn it on and know exactly that they’re watching Torchwood. Yes, it’s a bit more glossy. We’re filming in the US so we have to have American actors. The heart of it’s 100% still British.”
He admitted: “The global success… I’m just as bowled over by it as everybody else!”
