Karen Gillan has revealed that she can’t wait to stop off in her hometown of Inverness during next week’s Series 5 UK launch tour.

Speaking to Press and Journal, the actress said: “I’m so excited about coming to Inverness, as it’s not the sort of thing that happens there every day! And the show is such a massive phenomenon that I can’t quite believe I’m actually part of it!”

And she hopes that we love her character, Amy Pond, as much as she loves portraying her. “It’s strange in some ways, as the role is already established and the bar set very high, so I have a lot to live up to,” she explained. ”But I hope I’ve done a good job.”

Matt and Karen will start off in Belfast on Monday and will be moving to Iverness and Sunderland on Tuesday. The tour will culminate in Salford and Northampton on Wednesday. Unfortunately, the events aren’t open to members of the public.

The new series of Doctor Who begins next Saturday on BBC One and BBC HD.
