The Doctor, Sherlock in ‘Battle of the BAFTAs’…
With the ‘Battle of the BAFTAs’ just around the corner, Matt Smith has been featured on the latest issue of Radio Times, which is on sale now!
BBC One will be broadcasting the ceremony, taking place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, this Sunday, 22nd May, from 8pm, and as you’ll know, Matt is up for the ‘Leading Actor’ award for his portrayal of the Eleventh Doctor. Also nominated in the category – and stood behind Matt on the cover – is Benedict Cumberbatch for Sherlock.
They’re both also facing competition from Jim Broadbent (Any Human Heart) and Daniel Rigby (Eric and Ernie). An alternative version of the cover with Benedict in the forefront is also available. Although as Doctor Who fans our loyalties lie with Matt, if you just can’t decide which to get, you can always take a leaf out of Steven Moffat’s book! He’s got both of the covers, as he told his Twitter followers: “These days come only once”…
We’d like to wish the very best of luck to Matt. We’ll have everything crossed for him!
i hope doctor who wins everything its up for and sherlock wins nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!
Put it this way, Benedict Cumberbatch’s comments and attitude in interviews has made the man offensive to me. Every time I see him, I can feel a cringe coming on and I genuinely say that, in this case, not as a biased Doctor Who fan, I really don’t like him.
I hope I dont get loads of abuse by saying this but I really want Sherlock to do well! It is soo well written and Cumberbatch is brilliant in the role! :DD
I’ll be happy as long as waterloo road doesn’t win anything! :D
@JC
I don’t say this too often, but I completely agree with you.
His whole “I played sherlock, so I’m obviously too good to appear in just one episode of doctor who, I’d want something bigger” really got on my nerves (there is so many expletives I wanted to add to the last bit of that sentence).
Doctor Who owns Cumberbatch. (I really wanted to change that last “a” in his surname to an “i”)
Damn, usually Id want Matt Smith to win but, Daniel Rigby played Eric Morecambe pretty well in Eric and Ernie, god rest their soul, best comedy act ever was after Laurel and Hardy. And Id agree with people who say they dont like cucumberbatch, or whatever hes called…. his attitude has been quite dire from time to time
Regardless of what Benedict Cumberbatch is like as a person (and in the one interview I’ve seen he seems nice) I think he is a brilliant Sherlock Holmes… and so I am torn. On the bright side I’ll be happy whichever of them wins!
Also can anyone else picture Cumberbatch being a Tom Baker-esque Doctor? Maybe it’s just the dark curly hair and scarf…
I love Sherlock, But i am an OBSESSED LOOSER and ADORES doctor who, So you should know who i am voting for now :)
Can someone tell me if the BAFTAS is the same as the TV Choice Awards?
@Patrick
They’re not.
