Karen on Amy’s exit, promises “it’s the best ever”
Karen Gillan’s revealed that fans will not be disappointed by Amy Pond’s exit storyline, describing it as “the best ever”.
The actress, who’ll be stepping down from her role as the Doctor’s companion in the next series, which begins filming on Monday, told IGN that it’s “so exciting” to be bowing out in such “damn good” episodes. “I can’t say anything, but oh god,” she teased. “I’m dying to say something!” She adds that she hopes for her character to “get what she wants” when she bids farewell to the Doctor.
She also admits that it feels “just so weird” to be leaving the TARDIS behind for good, describing her time on the show as being like a “whirlwind”. She explained: “I was 21 when I started this job, and I didn’t really know what I was getting into, then it just went crazy. Now I’m coming out of the other end of it and I feel like a different person. I’m going to be sad to be finally going, and I am going to be leaving my best mates behind.”
She finished: “I want to go out on a high, with the character at her prime. It feels right.”
