Very sad announcement for me personally, despite Matt Smith being the obvious and most expected choice.
Congratulations to the 11th Doctor fans though, it is a true honour that will be remembered and I hope it means something to them for it to be happening.
It should have been David! We all know it!
I’m getting over the initial disappointment now. The truth is although I haven’t rated Moffat, I do think Matt Smith can be a good Doctor and I’m pleased for him that he gets to do something so historic.
If it had been my decision though, having Tennant be part of the relay, changing a piece of Doctor Who in to a piece of real life would have been a truly one-off opportunity, since there will be only one 2012 Olympics ever. I genuinely believe they’ve missed a massive trick there.
Having said that, my disappointment now more under control than 7 minutes after the announcement, I do offer Matt Smith my congratulations and I can’t wait to hopefully see video of it.
