Christmas comes early as festive ep begins filming!
Christmas has come early to sunny Cardiff, with filming for this year’s Doctor Who festive special currently underway!
The episode – recently described by Matt Smith as “magic” – will introduce Jenna-Louise Coleman as the Doctor’s new companion. Richard E Grant and Tom Ward guest star.
According to the Daily Star, “a dramatic plot” has been lined up for the seasonal adventure – we could have guessed that much though, it is a Steven Moffat script after all!
An “insider” has told the tabloid: “It looks like they’ve got big plots planned for Jenna’s debut – producers reckon she’ll be their trump card in the Christmas Day ratings battle.”

Tabloids. Insightful, as ever. :P
I spent five days in Cardiff this week and went to the Doctor Who set on Monday and Tuesday. They were filming the Christmas special then too. It was all indoors, but we got to see a few costumes, including Matt Smith, Richard E Grant and a purple-dressed character. We could definitely tell in what time period it was set. Unfortunately Jenna was not there those days, but I’m really excited about seeing her first episode on Christmas Day!
