Remember when… the Doctor first met Jo Grant?
The Doctor is no stranger to, well… strangers, and after nine centuries of time and space travel, we bet his address book is bigger on the inside – just think of all the Christmas cards he has to write too!
Once in a while though someone comes along who manages to capture both of his hearts. The Doctor needs a best friend by his side (we have all seen what happens when he travels alone…), and in 1971, that responsibility was handed over to Jo Grant, the star of this week’s Remember when.
The Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) first encountered UNIT’s junior civilian operative when he found himself stranded on Earth in Terror of the Autons. Assigned in the coveted role of his new assistant, the Doctor was initially reluctant to allow her onboard the TARDIS – but Jo had other ideas. Together they went on to encounter giant maggots, dæmons, the odd time-eating monster and even the Master to boot, so nobody could blame her when she decided to call it a day in 1973, but see the moment her life changed forever below!
In 2010 she met the Eleventh Doctor when she starred in The Sarah Jane Adventures.
I haven’t seen any of her original series, but I have seen the Sarah Jane Adventures episode where she meets the Eleventh Doctor. I really want to watch more Classic Who, though.
i love sarah jane the most from the old classic who and then jo grant secondly i think she was a very good compianion
