Steven Moffat has suggested that fans will be introduced to an array of new monsters during the 50th anniversary.

The showrunner’s told the Independent that his agenda for the show’s landmark year is “to build for the future” instead of presenting “a farewell tour”. “It’s certainly not a full stop,” he explained. “I want to build for the future. I want to set up the next 50 years.” He also ruled out a regeneration as part of the festivities as he reveals “the search for a new Doctor hasn’t started. Matt Smith will be the Doctor forever.”

Matt Smith also made similar comments recently confirming he’s “not going to leave” in 2013. He has also pondered the chances of a celebratory live episode taking place.

The new series begins tomorrow with Asylum of the Daleks at 7:20pm on BBC One.

I am a fan Dr Who.
Capt Jack Harkness (Torchwood) came out of this program and I believe this character should be part of 50th anniversary. John Barrowman is Jack and no one else should play this part or should.
Your plans are for new additions to the series but the anniversary will not be complete without John Barrowman, show would be more successful adding John Barrowman he has many fans worldwide.
Also it is time for a new Torchwood series with Mr. Barrowman.

I think Steven Moffat knows Jack originated in Who, especially when he wrote the Cap’s first story. And Torchwood is currently in limbo, RTD is working on another children’s TV show at the moment, so I don’t think we’ll see anymore Torchwood for a while.

So we’ve had turn your back and the Weeping Angels will get you, turn your back and you’ll forget the Silence, next will be turn your back and……

Just joking, hopefully they’ll be well thought out enemies though and not just new enemies for the sake of it.
