Wales sees rise in Doctor Who inspired baby names
Wales has seen a huge rise in the number of babies that are being named after Doctor Who characters!
WalesOnline reports the name ‘Amelia’ was given to 3625 babies in 2009, which increased to 5054 by 2011 as a result of Karen Gillan’s introduction in the series as Amy Pond.
Meanwhile, ‘Rory’ and ‘River’ have gone up in the popularity tables in recent years too. Rory’s gone from 132 to 110, and River’s gone from 1792 to 1239.
‘Matt’, which was the 1425th most popular name in 2009, is currently positioned at 1124.

If I have kids one day, I don’t think I’ll be naming them after Doctor Who characters, that’s a step too far for me, lol.
My daughter is Amelia Rose after my two favorite companions of course and my husband’s cousin always tells her to come along pond, and she’s 9 months old and walking!
