Matt Smith has revealed next year’s 50th anniversary will “honour” the show’s in-depth history.

The actor told the Waikato Times that showrunner Steven Moffat recently invited him to “a very exciting meal”, during which he shared his ideas for the landmark year. “I can’t tell you them I’m afraid,” Matt teased. “But it’ll be spectacular. It will be something brilliant, because that is the sort of man he is, and he will make it all as grand and as brilliant and as inventive as possible, that much I do know.”

He added that a multi-Doctor special is an “exciting idea”, but clarified that “nothing’s set in stone”. “There’ll be a script at Christmas and we’ll shoot it next spring,” he confirmed.
