Sixth Doctor Colin Baker is currently serving time in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here jungle. Before he went in, Digital Spy spoke to him about his latest adventure.

The conversation naturally turned to his former adventures in the TARDIS as the actor looked back fondly on his tenure as the Time Lord and, in particular, its fanbase. “I was in the show from 1983 to 1986,” he said. “Blimey… it has been 30 years since I did the programme and the fans have all been faithfully loyal. Bless the Doctor Who fans.”

He added that he thinks Matt Smith is “brilliant” in the title role but went on to admit that he doubts that any of the Classic Series incarnations will be invited back for next year’s 50th anniversary, which will be officially marked a year today on 23rd November 2013. He said: “I’ve not been asked and as far I know none of my erstwhile colleagues have.”

    Of course the hope is that all the past Doctor actors have been “sworn to misinformation” on their appearance in a special 50th episode. It would be great to see them all back alongside Matt Smith.

    At least we’re being thrown some bells by David Tennant. Whether it will prove true or not, it still makes for a lot of fun!

    Looking at Colin Baker now, I really don’t know how it’d work.

    Peter Davison worked in Time Crash, but I think Colin Baker would stretch belief to snapping point.

    Having said that, I am one of those that want as many Doctors to be included as possible.

    The obvious solution is an animation, but I haven’t liked any of the Doctor Who animations to date.

    Well, I would like to see a two special called the Time Wars were something went wrong like the ends of times. But all the Doctors must return and their Tardis to put everything back in place. Doctor Who is my all time favorite show since 1980 when I first saw Tom Baker on channel 11 WTTW in Chicago. Well till my Next adventure I am somewhere in the outer limits of the twilight zone.

    I doubt SM has the imagination for a multi Doctor special, so am holding out no hopes for 2013. We will see!!!!
    Trouble is their are rumour’s that 50th anniversary is going to be a 1 Doctor pony, if this is true, it will certainly back up my theory!

    And can I say Colin Baker owe’s the BBC nothing! They treated him appallingly. If it was not for Colin’s great love of the fan’s as well as Doctor Who. we would not have the 6th Doctor for Big Finish.

    @Steve
    If the 50th Anniversary is just about the 11th Doctor, I can say right now that I’ll be greatly offended and that it’ll be it for my opinion of Steven Moffat.

    The 50th Anniversary is about Doctor Who as a whole, not just the 11th Doctor and I think I’d go as far as to say that if I knew that was the case, I’d actually not be that interested in the Anniversary anymore.

    I get that the 11th Doctor is his creation, but in the context of half a century of the show, the 11th Doctor is meaningless on his own.

    It takes no imagination to decide on a multi-Doctor story; it’s the most obvious idea for an anniversary story. I’d obviously like to see other Doctor’s included, but only if the story works, not for the sake of it.
