Rate & Discuss: Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS
A spaceship salvage team drags the TARDIS on board, sending its systems into meltdown. As the Doctor marshals the motley salvage crew outside he realises Clara is still trapped within his malfunctioning ship, pursued by a dangerous group of ossified monsters.
Tonight Series 7 continued as the Doctor embarked on his most dangerous journey yet.
When a spaceship salvage team claimed the TARDIS they believed they’d stumbled upon their most prized possession yet but a police box that’s bigger on the inside holds its own fair share of secrets, as Clara was about to find out! Trapped onboard the malfunctioning ship as it counted down to its imminent self destruction, the Doctor’s companion was in a race against time and a dangerous group of ossified monsters – no pressure then, Clara!
With shocks and surprises waiting around every corner there was no time to spare as our heroes set out on their journey into the unknown, to the very centre of the TARDIS itself.
So now that it’s aired, did Stephen Thompson’s long awaited episode live up to the hype?

It was a good episode. It was interesting to see more of the tardis including the pool and the library! The monsters were only there to add a threat and didn’t really need to be there but they were scary and did the job. I don’t like the way Moffat keeps raising this issue of the Doctor’s name. It should stay a secret and doesn’t need to be mentioned. I don’t think he has the guts to actually reveal it but it still isn’t needed. Try and find some more interesting stories to tell, rather than something that will upset everyone Moffat!
I need time to think on this episode, write out my thoughts before posting pulling on here, as my immediate post-episode feeling is either disappointment or anti-climax.
posting fully, sorry, mis-typed somehow.
A truly brrilliant episode! Magnificent! If it doesnt win an award I’l be angry!
I previously thought the idea of using salvage finder as the reason the TARDIS was in peril a dim idea, but now I think it was a great idea!
I was scared the set used for the rooms of the TARDIS would be bad, but I think they were gorheously done!I think it explains why the CGI for the whole series has been bad, they must of spent a fortune making the sets!
I just adore the whole revalation of the story (Warning, for those who have not seen this episode yet, SPOILERS Ahoy!) the Doctor sacraficing himself to give a message to his past self is just heart(s) wrenching stuff!
I think it’s the best episode of the whole series yet!
Love the episode but I noticed their was a different writer like what happened to Moffat? Overall though it was really good and it was great seeing other parts of the Tardis.
@Kat
moffat doesn’t write ALL the episodes just so you know. hes written several episodes like aotd, tatm, tbosj and notd.
I absolutely LOVED this episode. I think this might be my new all-time favourite. I loved the action, the plot and the acting – everything!
So I was the only one that didn’t like it, lol, but that’s ok.
As I said to someone on Facebook, I don’t mind people disagreeing with my opinion, it’d just be nice not to be alone with it.
I really liked this episode a lot.
@JC
I dont mean to pry, but why did you not like it?
@JC
I agree, I didn’t like it too much. The scenery was good, the storyline was okay but something was just missing! And for me, that tends to happen a lot in Moffat episodes. I can never put my finger on what it is though!
@joshrr
Just for the reasons I noted in my long post above. As I said though, I don’t mind that people disagree with me really.
@Katie
I know what you mean in relation to this episode. Aside from what I mentioned above, I don’t feel strong enough to hate it, it was an ok episode, it just wasn’t what I was expecting for an adventure into the mysterious world of the Tardis we never get to see.
To add to what I said though, I thought those monsters could have been much better than what they turned out to be.
As the Doctor was so adament he didn’t want to talk about it and related to “The History of The Time War” book, I thought they could have been people the Doctor looked after in the depths of the Tardis. Perhaps they were as a result of something that happened in the Time War, sort of like what happened to the Gelth, and the Doctor felt responsible either for causing it in some way or for looking after them as the last Time Lord.
The actual explaination didn’t quite match that. As I say though, in this instance, I can understand why people would really like it so I don’t mind being in the minority.
