Mark says Peter’s Doctor is “dangerous”, “urgent”
Mark Gatiss has revealed a few more intriguing tidbits about the personality of Peter Capaldi’s Doctor.
The actor and writer told AdoroCinema that the Time Lord will show “dangerous” tendencies as he gets to grips with his latest incarnation throughout the next series.
“I’ve seen bits of Peter in action and he’s just wonderful,” he teased. “It’s an exciting prospect for the series because he’s a much more urgent Doctor. A little crazy, almost.”
He continued: “I was sad to see Matt go but he did a great job as the younger Doctor, as did David Tennant before him. But the revived series is 8 years old now so it’s time for a radical change. Peter is so interesting in the role and it is going to be fantastic to watch.”
Paul McGann (Eighth Doctor) recently predicted that Peter will be “the best of the lot”.

So Steven Moffatt’s desperation continues. These “Peter’s Doctor is “dangerous”, “urgent”, similar to all the comments during MAtt Smith’s era continue to show his lack of conviction! It is time Moffatt went and someone who cares and loves the show took control and brought Doctor Who back properly!
I’d be happy if Peter Capaldi did turn out to be the best.
Now the successor to the 10th Doctor is gone, it’s kind of cemented Tennant as my first Doctor and I could accept someone better if they were capable of it. They’d never be the same as that first Doctor Who experience.
The question is not if Capaldi is capable of being a great Doctor, I’ve seen him in three different roles now and am convinced he could be, it’s whether Moffat is up to the challenge.
@Steve
If you think Steven Moffat doesn’t care about Doctor Who, then you don’t know enough about Steven Moffat to express opinions directly related to Steven Moffat.
@Freddy Jones Steven Moffatt doesn’t care. If he did Doctor Who would still be at the heady heights started by RTD!! His direction is dull, he cares more about Sherlock than Who and this reflects in his writing. There is very little about Doctor Who that stands up to anything since Doctor Who started, in fact Tom Baker’s 1979 season with the Horns Of Nimon is far superior to anything he has allowed on TV in his time as “Head Writer”. Don’t get me wrong, he has had moments, like the TIme of but overall, he needs to go and be replaced by someone who cares!!
Lets take Matt Smith’s era, who was his travelling companion? No-one. He came and went so often, picking the appalling Amy up, then dropping her off, picking her up again, dropping…yawn! He could not even hold that together and ended up allowing the Doctor to collect other companions on the way! Is Peter going to be the same format? From what has been said so far, Yep!
He has nothing new, nothing exciting. Matt Smith’s last story was incredibly dull and a hugely missed opportunity!
I agree with Steve! Now I have never been a big fan of Moffat but he has defo not lived up to the fun and excitement of DW since RTD’s era. Throughout Matt’s era it was complex storyline after another and sometimes that switches an audience off. Even the 50th year special was a bit lukewarm in my opinion.
I have faith that peter will be brilliant but he can only go off the writing he’s given. Now the only saving grace is Brian Minchin is exec producer and he comes from the RTD era so maybe his influence will rub off on Moffat.
Well, at the start of February, Moffat said he’ll definitely quit Doctor Who before he quits Sherlock, as Doctor Who is a major commitment that stops him doing other things and Sherlock doesn’t.
